Any suggestions on a breast pump? I was looking for an electric or battery operated unit. My insurance covers the cost, I just have to pay a co-pay so I was looking at the Medela Pump in style advanced Metro bag or the Freestyle Pump. Again, just looking for some suggestions.

Interesting! Is this standard on plans?
What I heave read on the topic:
There has been a lot of talk about health insurance companies covering
the cost of a pump. Generally speaking, they only cover it if your you
have a preemie or another special needs baby where the doctor has
determined that breastfeeding is "medically necessary". HOWEVER... every
policy is different (even within companies), so call yours to be sure.
If it IS covered, it typically covers hospital pump rental, not
purchase. Sorry dudes
My girlfriend works in the same district as I do and we have the same insurance. She was the one who called and found out that the pump is covered by our insurance. She did not have a preemie or a special need baby. I will be calling tomorrow to order it.
First of all.... JEALOUS! i've heard of other people receiving this benefit and our insurance sucks balls. If they cover the cost definitely buy a hospital grade medela then. Especially if you aren't the one that has to fork out the dough for it. Otherwise, the medela freestyle double electric is supposed to be the best.

I haven't bought one yet, but my BF just had her baby and said she wishes she had spent the extra to buy a double breast pump. The single pump takes twice as long, and the other boob leaks in the mean time. Like 15 minutes vs. 30 minutes on some day. If you have things to do, this makes a big difference. As far as the brand, I'm not sure.. but I thought her advice made a lot of good sense.

I love my Pump in Style... used it every day - 2x or 3x's a day for 13 months! I'm staying at home this time, but it still works great, so I'll probably use it to have some milk stocked up.
Has anyone had one that they DIDN'T like or that didn't stand up to frequent use and then got another one? I'm doing my reasearch and wanted to know if there are any to stay away from?
That being said, I plan to get a double, electric/battery operated one, so those are the only ones I'm even considering and all I hear about is Medela
jsut wanted to follow up on this post, check out llli.org. all about breast feding and got a lot of good info and other pumps for working moms to look into!
