Canada/Vancouver ladies? Travel question...

Hello girls...I hope you don't mind me hopping over from TTC35+ to ask if any of you have ever been to Vancouver.

If yes, is 3 full days enough to see the city? We might even have part of evening when we arrive if we end up going.  Right now it just seems like an expensive trip! He has points for a hotel..thank goodness. Would love to stay at one of the "nicer" ones but can't be too picky when trying to have a baby.

Do you recommend anything that we should see/do? I know MH wanted to camp out one night in the mountains at a campground because someone said that was fun. Ok...not sure if I like that idea. Any thoughts or recommendations would be great! Thanks

Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive.  Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)

Re: Canada/Vancouver ladies? Travel question...

  • I live in Vancouver.  You will be able to see a lot of the city in 3 days, but not everything.  Will you be renting a car?

City highlights: granville market, walk through stanley park and/or along the seawall, shopping on Robson and Burrard, check out Yale town / Gas town and / or the Richmond night market.

If you are renting a car I would suggest spending a day in Whistler - lots of shops, great places to eat, and of course the scenery is beautiful.  If you are feeling adventurous you can try ziplining or river rafting there (sounds like DH likes outdoor activities).

Outdoor activities close to the city are the Capilano suspension bridge, which is east of Vancouver, hike the Grouse Grind or wander around Lynn Canyon.

    I hope this helps! :)

  • Cool that you live there! I heard it is beautiful! Totally forgot to ask MH about a car. Ziplining and rafting is out for me....I'm such a chicken :) Would love to see Whistler....prob gorgeous in the winter time.

What surprised me was when looking online to book I didn't realize that from Pittsburgh it is an 8 hr flight with one layover. Guess I need to brush up on my geography....haha. As of now MH STILL didn't book....grrr. He is constantly changing his mind. Thanks for info :)

  • Three days should definitely be enought time.  I don't have much to add as Mayan has summed it all up and I'm not a frequent traveller to Vancouver, however, I do know that 8 hours seems like a long time to get to Vancouver!  Sucks that you can't get direct :(  Have a great time!
