Baby Names

Our top girl picks

So, we've had a short list for a while now... and we haven't really made any headway.

Harper Grace

Sienna Harper

Sienna Bliss

Harper Grace is DH's runaway favorite - I am hesitant only because our last name begins with H and is two syllables, and I think that Harper H-- without the middle name might sound too alliterative and kitschy... DH says that's part of what he loves about it!  Sienna is my favorite, but I don't know which middle name sounds best - I like them all. Thoughts?

Re: Our top girl picks

  • My first impression is they're all ok, but a bit on the trendy side. Would Sienna Grace be an option? I think that combo has a nice blend of current and classic.

  • Harper Grace is tied with Sienna Harper for me. I really don't care for Sienna Bliss.

  • I prefer Sienna to Harper as I've heard Harper a lot more often- Grace too. I'd choose Sienna Harper over Sienna Bliss because the later reminds me of the drink Sierra Mist
  • I'm really not a fan of any of the names.  I'm sorry.  Harper just brings to mind Harpy.  Grace is a fine mn.  Sienna is just meh in my opinion.  Is Bliss a family name?  If so I can support it as a mn but otherwise I don't really care for it.  I'm really sorry.  :(

Sheena Grace?  Stella Grace?  Helena Grace?

I'm not really sure of your style overall so I can't help give suggestions since I didn't really care for any of them.

I definitely wouldn't use Harper with a two-syllable last name beginning with H.  That's too much alliteration for me.  But I really loathe the name Sienna; it's one of my least favourite names.  Sienna Bliss is particularly awful.

Are there any other names you're considering?

    BFP #2 4/9/12, EDD 12/16/12, M/C Rory 4/24/12.
    BFP #3 10/6/12, EDD 6/16/12., Matilda born 6/17/13.
  • I do like Sienna Grace as well. Because Sienna is my favorite, adding Harper as the middle name was my way of appealing to DH.

Bliss isn't a family name, it's kind of a personal reference for us... but as hard as it is for me to take it off the list, I know it's not what we'll choose, I just wanted feedback. I realize it sounds a bit 'out there.'

I know these are kind of trendy options... I wish they weren't. Amelia was our first favorite, we like the old-school appeal - but once we sat with it for a while, we just didn't love it.

And, lol @ Sierra Mist!  I think that officially takes Sienna Bliss off the table Smile

Names cut at the last editing session include:

    Amelia

    Emeline

    Coralie

    Addison

Another vote for Sienna Grace! If giving him Harper as a mn will appease him, then go for it, but it's not as nice as Grace. Don't use Harper with your last name. Your reservations are founded.

I love Amelia, Emmeline (spelled this way), and Coralie.  So much more timeless than Sienna!

I like the name Harper Grace; however, I agree with PP about it being trendy. It is Neil Patrick Harris' daughter's name, and the main character of this book.

If you go with Sienna, I think Sienna Bliss sounds better than Sienna Harper.

  • I don't know why, but Harper Grace just sounds kind of generic to me.  I guess because Harper seems so popular, and I know Grace is a popular mn.  Sienna is just okay for me.  Have you thought about Grace as a fn?  Or maybe instead of Bliss, Sienna Blythe?  Still has a nice meaning, and a sort of similar sound.

  • Sorry, but I'm super bored of Harper and Sienna... and actually Grace as a middle name. They're all crazy popular where I live. Several of my friends have lil' Harpers and at one time, there were THREE Siennas in DS's preschool class of 16 kids. That being said, how about Grace Harper or Grace Sienna instead? While practically every little girl has the middle name Grace, you don't hear it used as a fn very often.

  • Sigh. Thanks for all of the responses, I appreciate the feedback. Lots to consider...
  • While I like Sienna better than Harper in general, out of your options, Harper Grace sounds better than Sienna Harper. Bliss is awful, sorry.

I really, really like Sienna Grace though. This is actually one of the names we've contemplated if we're having a girl.
