I said I wouldn't stress this cycle

Yeah right.  I got a phone call from a strange number this afternoon, and usually I let strange numbers go to voicemail.  For some reason I took the call, and thank goodness I did.  My husband was out climbing with his BFF, and BFF took a 40 foot fall!  The first thing the woman that called told me was that my husband was just fine, but I don't want to hear about bad things happening to my friend either!

Our house was on the way to the hospital, so they picked me up.  BFF was alert and in good spirits, but when he got out of the car you could tell he was in pain.  I made them get him a wheelchair because my husband would never think to do that himself.  I had to come home to do my injections, so I'm here for another 20 minutes, then I'm going back to the hospital.  They hadn't taken him to be examined when I left to come back home.  What a mess.  

As I said, I am so upset that this happened to my friend.  But now I'm really starting to question whether I want my husband to climb anymore.  That could have been him.  A 40 foot fall can kill someone.  As it stands, we think BFF walked away with just a broken elbow.  Someone was watching over him!  But sometimes people aren't that lucky.  I don't think my heart could take it.

Yikes!!  Tons of T&Ps for your BFF! 

FWIW, I am climber as well (or I was before I started TTC) and usually there are ropes and things preventing such an accident.  If you BFF and DH were free climbing, yeah I agree with you.  If not, something went horribly wrong!

I was told a rope was not properly knotted. I don't know who would be so irresponsible. I'm frustrated because i thought they were safer than that.

Were they outside or in a gym?  Either way, send them to a climbing gym and have them retake the class where you learn to tie the knot!!

They were outside.  I guess they always tie the rope but this time didn't for whatever reason.  And of course that was the time someone got hurt.  Lesson learned to them.  BFF fractured his elbow and his pelvis.  We are waiting this morning to see if he needs surgery on the pelvis fracture.  Ugh.

pain can be a powerful teaching tool.  Hopefully it won't ever happen again!!
