Babies: 9 - 12 Months

beach and something for shade

What do you use for shade at the beach?
My daughter is almost 9 months, we live about 15 minutes from the beach and I plan on going ALOT this summer!  I'm not one for bringing a load of stuff with us, and because we live so close we will be there probably just a few hours in the morning.  What do you use to provide shade for little one?  Obviously I can use an umbrella, but to be honest, i'm not sure that I would lug it with us for such a short amount of time.  But I still want something to have in case we do stay longer, or it's just too hot to be in the sun.

  • TTC for 3 years. Finally successful after 5 IUIs and 2 cycles of IVF. Our amazing twins were born 5 weeks early on 8/16/11. Found out April 2012 that our di/di twins are ID.

  • We bought a medium sized tent that I was able to put my chair under, too.  She was able to nap and play under it and there was a decent breeze blowing through the windows.  Bought it cheap on ebay.  We used an umbrella when she wanted to play in the sand.

  • We just ordered this because it seems easy to set up and break down. :)

We have this one as well. Easy to carry, lightweight and easy to open/set up. Watch the video on how to close it, but once you know how it is easy.

  • I got this at Sam's Club the end of last summer and its AWESOME!  You can put it overhead as an umbrella or tilt it and use it as a sunshade.  It packs up into its own sleve that you can easily throw over your shoulder.  Cannot recommend it enough - not to mention that its a 50+ SPF.

I have this too and love the darn thing. It's perfect and so easy to put up. They claim it takes 30 seconds and they're not lying.
