anyone else having a hard time teaching LO to chew?? i figure eventually she'll get it, but it's sometimes painful to watch her just swallow things whole. and yes, i'm cutting things small enough to where it's not a huge concern. i try to show her myself how to chew, she's just not really getting it. she basically inhales her food.
anyone have any ideas?
Re: she hardly chews.
Give her something finger shaped. Like a sweet potato fry or a piece of penne.
Or puffs? Does she not chew those?
We always make sure to eat together and we did not introduce foods to "chew" until the baby mimicked chewing her puree's, puffs and yougurt melts. Than we moved to stage 3 foods which had some pieces in the puree.
Once we were comfortable with her ability to chew, than we offered her peices of food.
Maybe take a step back to purees and wait until she is ready?
My Birth Story
she does chew puffs. i think she just gets so excited to eat that she inhales it. i'm nervous about something bigger than bite-sized because i think she'd just shove the whole thing in her mouth, lol.
