TTC After a Loss

If Snarky means pissed off, Im there =(

Hello... I posted a few times on this board last summer then left because I was trying to let "TTC" go and just let things happen. Well, Im back. Our family consist of me, my DH, our almost 6 year old little leaguer, and DH 2 teenage boys whom do not live with us but visit often.

Our TTC history. We decided to TTC in the fall of 2010, we got pregnant in Jan 2011 but found out a few weeks later that it was ectopic and I had to have surgery to have my left fallopian tube removed because it had ruptured. In Sept 2011 we found out we were pregnant again only later to have a M/C before 6 weeks again. We have had no luck so far. I don't temp/chart or anything like that. I have been trying to "let it go" and see if it will happen for us. But when AF showed up this am, Im rather pissed off at nature, per se. I plan on charting my morning temps starting tomorrow bc I am afraid I am not ovulating and I know if I show up for a fertility work up they will probably ask about my charting, and I have nothing to show.

So, here I am. I am hoping I can get some great tips and tricks of the trade from you ladies. I remember a few of y'all from last summer I think, and I am so sorry you are still here =(

And, Good morning! If you drink coffee =) I hope it is as good as mine is this morning!

((And for some reason my bold/italics/smiley face tools won't work. Im looking into that.))

I am so sorry for your losses. Welcome to the board. Many here will agree that charting is the way to go. It's given me a lot of peace instead of stress. Good luck to you; make sure you check out the TTCAL blog if you haven't already. (((((HUGS)))))

Welcome to the board and I am sorry for your losses. I would recommend charting too. It's kind of a pain at first but once you get the hang of it it becomes second nature.

I just finished up my cup of morning coffee so I am right there with ya Wink Couldn't function without it!

  • Thanks y'all! I tried FF last summer and got overwhelmed quick. I think Im just going to chart the old fashion way (on paper) for this month and then go from there.

    Question:

In a first response pregnancy test I bought a few months ago, it also had a fertility test. I have not used it yet, but was planning on it on day 3 of this cycle. Have anyone else tried one?

The general consensus is not to bother. I think the test checks your FSH to see if it's too high, but it's not terribly accurate and I wouldn't use it as any kind of marker of "how fertile" you are.

OK thank you! I will throw it out. If its "abnormal" I will probably freak and over analyze so Ill just skip that step!

I am so sorry for your losses!  I'm sorry you're pissed off, I definitely feel that way a lot too.  I really like charting, it makes me feel a little more in control.  Welcome back to the board, I hope your stay is short and sweet.

I always say I'm an eternal optimist.  I'm always convincing myself I am pg even when I know deep down I'm not.  It is an emotional roller coaster for sure.

I'm very sorry for your loss.  I feel pissed a lot too.  Typically around CD1.   Welcome to the group.  There are so many amazing women here.  I'm so fortunate to have found it.

I know =( Every month I have a new "symptom" that wasn't there the month before so it throws me off. Now that I only have 1 tube, I think, since I didn't get pregnant this month Ill definitely have a better chance of ovulating out of the good tube the next month... vicious cycle! Meh!

Im definitely going to start charting this cycle. I had a nurse midwife that I LOVED through the last m/c that asked if I was ready for a fertility work up and I told her I wasn't ready yet. Now that I am, she is no longer there. So now I have to find someone else so I really need to get my ducks in a row.

  • Welcome. Sorry for your losses. I hope you are able to make it happen soon! I have found the ladies on this board to be very helpful and supportive.

Definitely talk to your OB about TTC. There's all kinds of things they can check that could be causing problems. I have had fibroids for years and never knew until I went to a fertility specialist who did an ultrasound. My regular OB wasn't that thorough.

On the smileys - I have found that they don't work if you're on safari or firefox, but they do work on chrome. I want to knock whoever runs the boards at the bump over the head with a resounding: 'browser compatibility - it's internet 101, people!'

Thank you. I definitely plan on seeing one this summer after charting a month or two to find out if there is anything else going on. I just wonder with the u/s's I have had in the past and the lap procedure that if there was anything series going on I assume that I would know... but you know what they say about people that assume =(

AND thank you for the smiley face info! I am on safari! Is there anything I can do to fix it?
