changing thermometers

can you change thermometers mid cycle? mine was acting goofy this morning.I thought it temped wrong (it came out 97.11, then 97.10, & 97.17) but when I got up & used the regular thermometer it said 97.1 so I gues its right. it was not wanting to come on right. I think the battery is dying b/c I've had this one for about 3 years. I was just wondering if you get a new on if it will mess up charting in some way
TTC since 4/28/07
Diagnosed w/ endometriosis 12/2010 Laproscopic surgery & 6 months of Lupron
BFP 12/17/2011,EDD 8/23/12,ectopic discovered 12/29/11 at 6 weeks recieved methotrexate
Dec '12 HSG & ultrasound showed abnormalities & more endo. Laproscopic surgery in January '13 showed significant damage & scar tissue from Endo. IVF is our best shot to concieve our rainbow.

June '13 Decided to go the adoption route!

    I'm not really sure, if your current thermometer is inaccurate and you change it, your chart might be a little off but on the other hand an inaccurate thermometer could give you an inaccurate chart anyway...  Maybe get a new one and try using both, then you could double-check the accuracy of your current thermometer and make a judgment call on whether to continue using it for this cycle.

    I have two BBTs. One reads almost an entire degree lower than the other, so if it were me, I'd wait until next cycle to switch.  

    TTC with MFI, PCOS, and endometriosis since February 2010

    Unless it dies or is completely haywire, I would stick with the one you've got, at least until after O is confirmed.  Your temps from this morning do not sound goofy at all.  Were they just not what you were expecting?
