Baby Names

Known from the very start....

To my complete surprise my DH came up with the name out of the blue one day as we were driving somewhere....

"So have you thought about names at all yet hun?"

"Not at all, I'm still just wrapping my brain around the fact that we are going to have a baby...much less naming it!"

"Oh, well I have. Jeremy."

"Haha, so you think its going to be a boy eh?"

"Yup. I KNOW its a boy. My family only has boys..."

"Well....I actually like it."

I was completely taken by surprise! Pleasant surprise though!  The middle name was fairly easy as well as James is a name that has been passed down through both sides of our family. And that was that. Our LO is is a JJ. :)

What is your opinions on the name and having initials as a nickname??

  • Congrats on a name, I love James. JJ is a cutesy nn for a lil baby boy. I have a very bad association with the name Jeremy but it sounds good! A little sing-songy IMO or almost makes me think of Jesse James and I instantly start singing Cher... but if you and your SO love it thats all that matters!! =)

P.s. I'd get a girl name together just in case!

  • I like the name.  The nn is NMS but not bad at all.  I grew up with a JJ at my country club and he went by that at least through high school.

  • It's a good, solid name. And that's awesome you and your Dh agreed so quickly! I agree with a pp that I'd start working on a girl's name too. And JJ... never been a fan of initials for nicknames, but it works for a little baby if that's what you want to call him!
  • I like both names on their own, I'm just not a fan of alliterative names.

We didn't realize it til after the fact, but DS1 could have an initial NN since he is TC.  But we never call him that.

I actually know a Jeremy James that goes by J.J. I think as an adult he's kind of dropped it down to just J. I like it.

  • My husband is the same way; he's convinced he can only have boys so those are the only real names we've discussed. I'm holding out for a girl though but honestly, as long as the baby is health I'll be overjoyed. We both like the names Liam and Connor for a boy and I liked Audrey and Abigail for a girl.
