how many iui's have you had(if this was an option) before moving to IVF/what was recommended to you?

    We did 2 B2B IUIs then moved on to IVF. We are dealing with pretty severe MFI. GL!

    We did 5.


    04/07/11- PCOS Diagnosis w/GYN. Put on Metformin (1500 mgs)
    04/25/11- 1st consultation with RE (Confirmed PCOS & Anovulation)
    05/09/11-HSG-All clear! 05/13/11-SA-Normal. Found out on 2/14/12, low Morph (1%).
    06/17/11-10 days of Clomid (100, 150) No response.
    07/10/11-03/20/12- 5 Injectable (Follistim) IUI cycles; 4 BFN, 1 C/P. (stims ranged from 11 days to 25 days)
    05/28/12-Diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. 75 mcg Synthroid.

    IVF with ICSI in June/July 2013 = BFP!. Beta # 1 = 123. Beta # 2 = 252. Due March 25th. Baby boy arrived March 27, 2013!

    FET #1 - 10/4/14 = BFP!! Beta #1 = 179. Beta # 2 = 499. Due June 22nd.

    We did 6. We are very much unexplained IF and our RE was truly shocked that none were successful, especially the last one with four follies.  We have great coverage so we tried a few more IUI's than we would have with less coverage.

    DX: Unexplained IF
    Many IUI's with various meds all BFFN
    IVF #1 11/11 canceled due to OHSS
    IVF #2 Feb/March 2012 ET of 2 on day 3 4/7 BFP! 5/1 u/s blighted ovum
    IVF #3 July 2012 ET of 3 on day 3 7/24 BFP!

    We did 8.  3 before varicocele repair and lap.  5 after the surgery.  All with injects.

    We did seven before we gave up.  The second and seventh worked, but I miscarried both times.

     ETA:  We had insurance coverage for all of them.  If we had been OOP, we would have stopped long before 7.

    We have unexplained IF. 

    We did 2 with injectables.

    Our IVF clinic suggested we try 2 or 3 but not more than 3 unless it was covered by insurance. (I'm not judging others who have done more, this was just our experience.)

    We were paying OOP for them and decided that we wanted to spend our $ on better chances.

    DX: Unexplained/??? MFI issues

    Our lil' lost sparks:
    5w3d loss 7/30/10 - EDD March 2011
    8w loss 4/15/11 - EDD November 2011
    8w3d loss 8/2/12 - EDD March 2013
    4w c/p loss 10/29/12 - EDD July 2013

    Long story: trying on our own + testing testing testing with 6 rounds of Clomid, more testing, injectables + TI, laparoscopy - one tube blocked, 2 IUIs with Follistim...BFNs.
    RPL testing all normal, Karyotyping normal

    Moving on to IVF.

    IVF #1 April 2012 = BFN, IVF #2 June 2012 = BFP. U/S 7/23 = saw heartbeat but measuring behind. Follow up U/S on 7/30 - no heartbeat. D&C 8/2. Trisomy 12. IVF #3 Oct 2012 = Chemical Pregnancy

    Phone consult with CCRM on 12/12/12 - ODWU 1/4/13 - both tubes clear(!) - AFC 24, AMH 3.2, FSH 9.6, LH 5.4, E2 25. DH has high frag rate but improved!
    IVF #4 March 2013 CCRM. EP protocol w/ Menopur, Gonal-F & Dexamethasone. ER 3/29 & IMSI, PICSI. 43R 13M 10F 6blasts bio'd. CCS testing reveals 3 normals!!!
    FET 5/31/13 of 1 4AA blast - thawed and expanded. 4dp5dt BFP.
    Beta 9dp5dt = 181, 11dp5dt = 427. 1st u/s showed a healthy heartbeat! EDD 2/16/14

    After 4 years of hoping and heartbreak, our sweet little bean was born on 2/19/14
    We are so in love with her.

    DH and I are dealing with Klinefelters and we have purchased 6 units (OOP) and I just had my first IUI on May 8th!  I am anxiously awaiting my blood test next week, but I would assaume we will be using all 6 units if we haven't been successful before hand :)

    We did 3 with Clomid, and then tried for one more with injectibles (which ended up being cancelled) before moving to IVF.

    We're OOP and have a tubal blockage, so the threat of ovulating on the wrong side led us to believe IVF offered our best chance for success.

    TTC #1 since Oct 2009, Dx: Unexplained Infertility
    HSG: Right tube all clear, left tube inconclusive
    3 failed Clomid Cylces
    4/5 lap revealed blocked left tube, but right tube is open
    April/May- 50 mg Clomid + Ovidrel + IUI #1= CANCELLED left ovary ovulating
    June 1- 100 mg Clomid + Ovidrel + IUI #1 = BFN
    June 28- 100 mg Clomid + Ovidrel + IUI #2 =BFP!
    7/12 Beta #1= 14 Beta #2= >5 Chemical Pregnancy :(
    July-Nov long break to recover emotionally and financially
    Nov 24- 100 mg Clomid + Ovidrel + IUI #3= BFN
    Jan 22- Gonal-F + Ovidrel + IUI# 4 = CANCELLED no response on right
    IVF #1- Start stims 4/7, ER 4/20, 21R, 14F, 6 frosties, ET 4/25, 2 embryos transferred= BFN :(
    FET #1- June 2012, Lurpon starts 5/27- CANCELLED
    FET #1 take 2- August 2012, delayed until Sept-CANCELLED
    FET #1 take 3- ET 10/11, 2 embryos transferred,= BFFN
    FET #2- Transfer 12/4--Cancelled, no embies survived thaw :(
    Next steps-- IVF #2 with new RE in March
    HOLY SURPRISE BFP 2/15/13!!!! Beta 1- 286, Beta 2- 782, First Ultrasound 2/25- baby in uterus & all looks good!

    We're on cycle #5.  Either this month or next is our last, then we're moving on to IVF.  I'm petrified.
    Dx: LPD, late ovulation;
     July 2012:IUI #6 on 7/28, BFP on 8/9,beta 97, 8/11 189, 8/13 400!!   DS born 4/18!
    9/30/13 - Miracle BFP, released from RE 10/21, EDD 6/6/14, DD born 5/27!
    6/19/16 - Miracle BFP, EDD 2/25/17

    We did 5 IUIs.  (3) with Clomid + Gonal-f and (2) with just Gonal-f

    If I could go back in time and advise myself differently, I would've told myself to self-advocate for (1) Clomid cycle, (2) injectible cycles and then move on to IVF.  Hindsight...

    We did 2 IUI's....mostly because we are OOP and didn't feel the need to waste anymore money on something with low success rates.

    I have a tubular blockage as well but my clinic does an ultrasound each cycle to see which side I am ovulating from. If I am ovulating on the blocked side, we don't waste any units!

    We did 4 cycles (3 with Clomid + injects) and 1 with just Follistim.  We're on a break with possibly doing IVF in Nov

    We're unexplained so we tried 3 clomid iuis. I'm also AMA - 37 - so we moved onto ivf for better odds.

    IUI is the only way we're doing this. So, we just did number 4, but it was only my second one on a medicated cycle. I was on Clomid for 3 months and only responded once enough to IUI. This last time was a round with injectibles. We're on a break until my August cycle.

    We did 3 IUIs and none were successful. Just went to new RE and getting more prelim testing, but have a feeling IVF will be recommended.
