Hey there gals! This is the first month the hubby and I are actively
trying for a 2nd baby. our first is 2 next month and we really want her
to have a sibling somewhat close in age. As of right now I'm 10 dpo
with AF not due for another 3-5 days (she fluctuates between 28 and 30
days, but is usually 30 more often then not). I thought I'd be safe
testing this morning (I know I ovulated late in the afternoon, early
evening on the 7th, not sure if it matters) and got one of those First
Response tests (the ones that say you can test 6 days before your first
missed period so I thought for sure it would work) and got a BFN ![]()
I have so many symptoms right now it isn't funny and to have that BFN staring at me like a big slap in the face just made my heart drop. I have slightly fuller and sore bbs (not sure near the arm like they were with my first pregnancy, but extremely sore nipples and behind the nipples), lots of EWCM that is heavily tinted yellow (I know for sure its not an infection of any kind. I got really excited when I saw this because the only other time its ever been that yellow was when I was preg with my first), very heavy feeling in the uterus with mild cramping and just feeling of being full/bloated or something. Kind of hard to explain. I feel like I have to pee more, I'm tired beyond belief, nauseous, lots of headaches over the last few days, and moody.
All this has been going on far too long for it to be AF related since I usually don't get crampy and all that until about 1 or 2 days before AF.
Am I down and out do you think? Its hard to relate this time around to my first pregnancy since I didn't test until the day AF was suppose to arrive and got a faint positive, the next day was when I got the blazing 2nd line. It took only 3 months of trying for her so I know I'm jumping the gun with being over obsessed thinking it could happen the first time around this time.
What do you all think? Was it still too soon to even get the faintest of lines on the FRER? Thanks for your input everyone!
Re: 10 dpo BFN - feeling really down and out :(
Sorry your bummed... Try again the day AF is due. GL
The HPTs that say you can test 6 days before your missed period could cause you to test before you may want to. My period was due Tuesday, but if I had tested 6 days before that I would have only been 7 DPO, no where near close to when I should be testing..hope that helps.
This is from the newbie link, maybe it's just too early for you to test.
HPT accuracy DPO
10 dpo : 35%
11 dpo : 51%
12 dpo : 62%
13 dpo : 68%
14 dpo : 74%
15 dpo : 80%
16 dpo : 88%
17 dpo : 92%
18 dpo : 99%
I agree that it can be frustrating not knowing, but I'm excited for others who get that BFP no matter what. I think charting/temping helps in understanding exactly what your body is doing, how do you know how many DPO you are?
This would be a great post for 2ww. Please check out the newbie link/FAQ.
I'm sorry you're bummed. Keep your chin up. Good luck.

Its only your first month trying so I wouldn't get to worried yet. 10 DPO is still pretty early. Read some of the links that others have provided to you and you will find some helpful tips.
Unless you temp you do not know when you ovulated. CM and O pain are not solid indicators of that. Many women have fertile cm throughout their cycle. Unless you take your temperature, you have no way of being 100% that you did indeed ovulate.
A lot of your symptoms can be mistaken for PMS as well, so give it a few more days and take a test again.

The name is Angel. I'm 27 years old & DH is 28. We have been together for 12 years, married on May 21, 2011. We are TTC #1! I was diagnosed with endometriosis via laparoscopy in August 2010. Off of BC since March 2012. I am a 2nd year OB/GYN Resident physician. I love getting to be involved in precious miracles first moments of life, and I can't wait until the day we are blessed to have our own miracle!
Don't feel silly. There is a lot of info here, and not all of it will be familiar.
FWIW, the ovulation strips will also not tell you when you ovulate, only that you are gearing up to ovulate. They are great to use in conjunction with temping, because they let you know you are about to O, and temping confirms it. I usually O about 1-2 days after my first OPK. That said, I know that some people get positive OPK's throughout their cycle, so just don't rely too heavily on them. GL to you!

If you read the FRER insert, it says it's only 50-60% accurate at testing 6 days out from your period. I'd wait it out.
