Meditation and Music

Has anyone used this to manage pain? I am assuming its what I came across known as Hypnobirthing?

I want to dim the lights, and create a relaxing environment for myself, and my son. I have a CD of Native American flute and drum music I plan to use during labor (though probably not during the pushing stage). This is the CD I plan to use

Does anyone have any experiences to share?

Re: Meditation and Music

  • I listened to music my entire labor and while I was pushing.  I found I only wanted instrumental (no talking, singing).  I listened to Comfort Zone which is part of the Hypnobirthing program.  It helped a lot.  I would recommend bringing headphones particularly if you are birthing in a hospital since it can be kind of noisy/distracting.

  • I realized this same thing about instrumental. I thought I would want something with vocals, something distracting, but the more I have begun to think about they type of birthing experience I want to have the more I have begun to realized that the Native American instrumental music fits so perfectly for me. Great suggestion on the headphones! I know people will be talking, so I want to be able to focus on breathing and labor, not their conversation. I have a feeling everyone will be hearing a lot of "Shhhh" from me lol
