So I broke down and joined FF finally ![]()
I just created a chart based on my last real AF....I have a few questions for you ladies-
1) is the VIP membership worth it?
2) I have been kinda sorta spotting and overdue for AF--can I start temping now or do I really need a full flow to consider it CD1? Really wish AF would make up her freaking mind...
TIA!
Re: To all you charting gurus...
I think it depends on how intense you are going to be with charting. If you are like me, and pretty much just doing it because everyone on here says to, then no. If you are really interested in it, and want to see trends within your own charts, and want to use their message boards, then yes.
You need a full flow to consider CD 1. It is frustrating to wait, but a clean start fresh is what you want.
Ugh. Thanks. Patience has NEVER been my strong suit lol...
I do want to see trends and stuff but maybe I will just wait and see what I miss after the 30 day free VIP ends...

All of this! I am personally obsessed with charting and love all the analysis tools, so for me, it's worth it. I'd say give it a try for a bit (don't you get free VIP for a certain amount of time when you sign up? I forget, it's been a while). Compare it with the basic and see if you find yourself missing any of the features.
You could always start temping now to start getting in the habit, but you do need a full on flow before you can officially mark CD1.

Just keep swimming.
I recently put my VIP on hold due to NTNP, and I miss it. If you are going to analyze your chart a lot, I would say do it, just wait for it to go on a good deal. If you "like" them on FB, they usually will post when VIP is on "sale". There are a lot of little tidbits and such the VIP gives you that I think are helpful, some just add to MF though.
As for temping, any time is good to start. It may not give you a pattern right away, but at least you will get practice.

1. I joined FF during the free trial VIP membership and got used to it. Then it went away and I missed a couple of the features. The thing I missed most was being able to refer to older charts when requesting chart stalks. I caved and signed up when they were running a special promotion. Now people can see all my charts. I don't think it's necessary though for what you want to accomplish by charting.
2. You can start temping whenever you want, but CD1 isn't until you mark as Light flow, so your current cycle will show spotting and temps (if you want to temp now), and your new chart will start with CD1. If you wait until CD1 to temp, you technically won't record your first temp until CD2.
I love VIP. I would reccommend it- I really don't think it costs much, anyways.
And I think you can start temping whenever you want to! I consider CD1 to be filling a panytliner.
Welcome the the wonderful world of chart obsession!
Have VIP helped me analyze my chart a little more when I was first learning, so to me it was worth it. Now, my VIP is up in less than 3 weeks (after 400 days worth
) and I'm not renewing.
I started charting halfway through my first cycle I signed up, figured it couldn't hurt to start getting in the habit.
ETA: Charting also helped me identify that my 28 day cycle were not so 'picture perfect.' I was ovulating CD 20+ and I had 8-9 day LPs- not a good combo when TTC. With charted cycles showing this problem, my doctor began IF testing on me at 11 months rather waiting until the 12 months/ 1 year mark due to documented cycle disfunction.
This is exactly what I did. And the promo for $25 is still going on
