A friend of mine just delivered her twin girls at 31 weeks. I want to get her a gift but the normal new mom gifts seem lame knowing that her babies will be in the NICU for at least another month. Is there anything that a new mom spending her days commuting to and from the hospital might want/need?
TIA!
Re: Gift for mom with preemies in NICU
Direct link in siggy under FAQ It's wonderful of you to be so thoughtful - you're right - a lot of new mom gifts don't seem appropriate!
Gift card to Starbucks.
I had a big craving for Jimmy Johns--which makes really good sandwiches. So a gift card to Subway or Jimmy Johns.
We got a gift card to a pizza place from some nice friends who go to the same daycare as my son. It was a nice thought for them to treat us to dinner for the night.
And of course, anything from her registry--it just felt like people did not send gifts until my son came home. And I was ready to just celebrate my child being born--that was his birthday.
The registry idea is fantastic - so simple! Yeah, that all definitely got lost in the shuffle. People just didn't know what to do. I think flowers sent to my home would have been a nice and normal treat, too, now that I look back on things. I hated watching all the 'normal' l&d's getting flowers and balloons every.single.day. I was jealous. I got a single yellow rose from a friend when I delivered - I still have it, actually, dried and in with our hospital tags.
