I'm 99% sure that I'm out this cycle. My temp has been dropping, I've had spotting, and BFN this morning (10dpo). Waiting on AF. If she doesn't come in the next two days, I may test again, but I'm not hopeful.
WWYD re LP issue? Considering all of the RPL b/w and HSG we just had done, as well as our timing, does it look like a progesterone issue? Should I call my dr for more tests or get OTC cream for next cycle? (FWIW my OB would be adamant to test prog at CD21 then immediately recommend Clomid, my RE would tell me to stop charting bc he sees it as additional stress.) Any other suggestions for earlier O or lengthening LP? I am already taking extra folic acid and B-complex. I'm also a spotter, and had what I thought was AF prior to my first BFP and spotted before my second BFP until I was put on Prometrium. I'm still new to charting and only have temps recorded for one and a half cycles (this one and Jan 2011).
I would love to hear if anyone has similar issues and what your dr's advised. TIA!
Re: WWTTCALD? I feel like I'm getting nowhere. (chart stalk)
It wouldn't hurt to call your doctor. A call could never hurt.
I would tell them everything you are doing, and you demand a 7dpo progesterone test instead of CD 21. Tell them you don't ovulate on CD 14. Then, see what they suggest.

This. And, is it possible to get a second opinion? Even a different doc in the same practice?
Thanks ladies. It's definitely possible to consult another OB in the same practice. I'm almost to the point where I'd rather go to my RE for everything, but feel silly bothering him after only one cycle TTC since I've started seeing him. I've got a few weeks before I O again to figure it out so in the meantime I will call around.
I have also heard that late O can cause egg quality issues, and am wondering whether there's nothing that may make me O earlier, which could potentially fix the prog issue??? Like acupuncture or circle + bloom? Or is my OB on to something by recommending Clomid? (Yes, I know the risks and importance of monitoring, and me asking about it doesn't mean I'm strongly considering it. I don't want to stir up a Clomid debate.)
I appreciate your comments! Thank you!
I'd also be adamant about your cycle. I don't have a lot of tips there though, b/c even though my LP seems short, I don't spot. AF just shows up in full-force.
As for the late O, clomid, etc. when I discussed my entire cycle with my Dr. last week she said if it were her she'd try something like acupuncture first before jumping right on the drugs. I doubt it's a cure-all for everyone, but worth a try, I think! GL, that is so frustrating.

Have you talked to your RE about your late O? What does he/she recommend? Also, I would demand a 7dpo progesterone test and not on cd 21 since you O late.
I charted for a year before I went and talked to my OB about my cycles. I was consistently not O'ing until at least cd 30. She suggested Clomid to help me O earlier. My first cycle on Clomid I ended up Ovulating on cd 15 so much earlier. I also got a bfp that cycle but miscarried. I decided to go to a RE after that and he said that late O could mean egg quality issues and that it was important to get me O'ing earlier. That seemed to be the only problem since all of my blood tests and DH's SA came back normal. I have also been doing Acupuncture for a year now and it helped lengthen my LP by a day or 2 but it took several cycles to see a change. It did not help me O earlier though. If you do decide to try Acu I would try to find one that specializes in fertility issues. If I were you I would talk to your RE about all of your concerns and see what he/she suggests. I hope this helps. Feel free to pm me if you have any other questions
Thanks! I briefly discussed my LP issues with my RE, but our conversations were primarily focused around my RPL issues. He did say that he doesn't see a concern unless my LP is shorter than 7dpo. My RE says some people are just spotters and is ok with that. He's also not too concerned since I got pg twice within a 6-7 month time frame (and not all of those cycles were TTC). I also dismissed the discussion since during my last pg, my OB put me on Prometrium at 10dpo when I got my BFP and it stopped my spotting but I still had a c/p. Also, my OB previously did prog testing at CD21 (1dpo that cycle, which was 10) and again 3 days later (4dpo was 14), so my levels are decent at that point in my cycle. I'm curious whether it's possible to completely drop off too soon before implantation. Also, my cycles are typically 28-30 days long, with the exception of the past couple of cycles that have been a few days longer, so, assuming my LP has been constant, my O date would be around CD20ish. I don't know if that's considered "too late" or not.
Now that the RPL issues have all been resolved and I've done more charting to support my concerns, I think I'd like to revisit the LP issue and discuss late O with my RE. I just feel silly doing it because there are so many other ladies out there with IF issues that wait longer before dealing with doctors and I don't want to seem too impatient. In the grand scheme of things though, I'm coming up on 1 year since we started TTC, so that's got to stand for something. I'm just impatient and neurotic when it comes to all of this stuff, so I like getting feedback as to whether it's justified or whether I should just take a deep breath and try again next cycle.
I understand your frustrations. It seems strange to me that your RE would not be concerned with your short LP and spotting. My progesterone levels came back within normal range also but my Re wanted me on Progesterone supp. just in case. He said that it can't hurt anything. It sounds like you don't have any problems getting pregnant it's just staying pregnant. I agree, I would revisit the short LP issues with your doctor next time you see him. GL!
I haven't read all of the responses yet, so I'm sorry if this is all a repeat. I have heard from some (not reputable) sources that late O does mean that the egg is of poor quality. My OBGYN is not concerned about my late O but is sort of ignorant. I also have a short LP, but I don't hae spotting issues. I was already on vitamin b6 when I got my progesterone supp, and I don't really think it has helped my LP.
Definitely speak to your doctor about your concerns. The way I see it, progesterone can't hurt and can only help. I'd insist on progesterone testing if I were you. Also, have you tried vitex for earlier O? My O has ranged so much but has been a bit earlier since vitex.
Thanks! I'm considering Vitex next cycle, as well as changing from my Super B-complex vitamin to a B-100 Complex vitamin.
