Cloth Diapering

Need encouragement!

We have Best Bottoms CDs. 6 covers and 30 inserts. We haven't used them yet, and I'm honestly a bit intimidated to get started. (My ticker is wrong, DD is nearly 8 weeks old). Today I bought ECOS detergent to try as a place to start (found it locally), so that's a step in the right direction. Any words of encouragement or wisdom to get started?

  • my best advice is to get rid of the sposies and just make yourself do it.  that's what worked for me.  We ran out of sposies today and I had part-time CDed before that.  now i have no option other than to get comfy with the CDing.

It seems so overwhelming because of all there is to learn about it, but in reality, once you know it, CDing is just as easy as sposies!

Just do it. We swear it is NBD once you do it for like a day and by two loads of laundry you will be on here helping newbies. I hear very, very few stories of families that start CDing and don't like it and very few of DHs that don't come around. In fact, I hear over and over again about DHs that start bragging on the cloth (mine does - cracks my stuff up every time.)

If all of that doesn't work then ...The sooner you start - the more money you save, the more crap you keep out of the landfill and the fewer chemicals on your baby's skin.

My family is a Foreign Service family. Families like mine are posted in every corner of the globe. We live our lives away from family, friends and the conviences and comforts of home. We often live and work in dangerous places among those that misunderstand our intentions and purposes. Sometimes members of our ranks sacrifice our lives to further diplomacy.  Please remember that we serve too. And I'm always open to questions.
