growth U/S and too much fluid?

I am 28w4d and had a growth US today.Everything seemed to be fine .But then the Dr. saw that baby b's fluid was higher than baby a's and baby a's was in the normal range. So she wants me to come back in a week for a bio physical.Has this happened to anyone? If so what did they do.

I am of course freaking out and do not want to google since that will probably freak me out more.

TIA

Re: growth U/S and too much fluid?

  • It happened to me at about 24 weeks. Baby A had more fluid than Baby B. They monitored me weekly throughout my pregnancy because they thought it was TTTS at first. Once they ruled that out, we still had weekly appts. due to baby B having IUGR. The fluid evened out over the course of a month, but they have to monitor it to be safe. Good luck.

  • Are they mo/di or di/di?  If mo/di it could be concern for TTTS.  We had it diagnosed at 22 weeks when B's level was 11cm and A's was 2cm.

That's di/di (2 placentas, 2 sacks), and is good for the situation you are describing. At this point-take it easy, drink lots of fluid, and try not to Google or stress. Your docs are monitoring, Baby A is still in normal range. Sending good thoughts your way.

TTTS is more of a concern for mono/di or mono/mono (1 placenta, 2 sacks or 1 placenta, 1 sack).

  • This happened to me. They monitored me for it my whole pregnancy but everything was fine. Girls turned 6 months yesterday/today :) best of luck!
  • I had mono/di (one placenta and two amniotic sacs) pregnancy. Baby B always had a bit more fluid than A, but at one point it was above the normal range. I had ultrasounds every 2 weeks from 16-28 weeks and once we hit 28 weeks we had BPPs every week. Everything was fine. The doc said that my fluid may have been a bit high because I was spending a bit too much time of my feet since everything else looked good.

I spent a good part of my pregnancy worrying about everything but DH was good to remind me not to worry until I have something to worry about! Its great advice, but easier said than done.
