I thought I was getting so good at cutting her finger nails until last night.  I was cutting her thumb nail and I got a little piece of her skin in the clipper.  She immediately got the little sad face and started to cry.  Broke my heart.  Then it started to bleed and I had to hold her hand for a half an hour, because every time she moved her hand the little cut would open up again.  I feel so guilty, even though she was back to all smiles about 2 minutes after it happened. 

Now I am afraid to cut her nails again.

I am so sorry!! My HUSBAND wont even try to cut his nails afraid to do the same.

next time try to cut them when he is in a good sleep! Dont beat yourself up...we all have either done the same once or have the fear. hugs to you... sorry

My pedi recommended just filing nails instead of cutting them. You can't nip LO's fingers this way.

Yes I think I will have to just start filing her nails from now on.

My friend suggested biting their nails... I tried and couldn't do it, but apparently lots of people prefer it........ hm.

I tried filing her nails, and felt like I was filing her finger tip too... Now I just cut them in while she's sleeping

This happened to me (or to my LO) last week

I've used the clippers since, but I file some too. They just grow so dang fast that I feel like the file isn't enough. And I've gotten the "bite them yourself" advice too, but can't bring myself to do that...
