I would avoid this. Most people might not notice, but when they do, they are likely to question you and possibly make fun of her. I used to get called KAM (my pre-marriage initials) and it drove me nuts because it rhymes with spam. We consider using my middle name for our baby, but her initials would have been LAI, and I didn't even want to open the door to that!! Some may not think it's a big deal though, maybe I'm over-analytical.
Their are many articles written about this, do not do it, we liked a name but the initials ended up being DAM, I was always thankful I had read the article before naming our DD that. I would have probably not even noticed or even thought about paying attention to the Initials before reading it. again don't do it!

I never really thought about initials.. A name that we have in mind now is Scarlett Olivia.... BUT last name is S... Really?! Just when I was happy with a name.

Whats your opinions on S.O.S.?
I don't personally think SOS is that bad.
Thanks. The more I thought about it the more I realize, there would only be a few times where she would need to use her full name throughout school like graduations.
I think I am the first guy in the history of this board to post but here it goes...
My initials are a bit tricky but they do spell a short form for an obscenity that some people notice. I have heard about this since late grade school. I hate it. I would recommend that any parent take a close look at the initials.
My initials are D.A.M, not one person has ever noticed. My dad used to joke that it's because "DAM>N I'm good" when he would pretend to be an announcer. I always thought it would be funny if I had married a man with a N last name so that it would actually spell out the word.

I dont think it really matters. Mine are A.S.M. Ive joked how it would have been funny to marry someone with the last name S. However, I married a T so now they are A.S.T. the first 3 letters of my first name. No one really pays attention to that. in school no body knew what my middle name was unless I told them.

The first choice DH and I had for a boy's name (had this LO been a boy) would have resulted in the initials D.A.M., and I don't think we would have changed it either, unless we'd found a different middle name we truly loved as much as the "A" one. When we noticed it, we just joked that it would be "DAM, that's a cute baby!" so I must say I like your father's style!

I could totally care less about initials *except* when they clearly spell a bad/offensive word. It would be awful to give your child those initials, and I am having a hard time believing your seriously considering it.
Re: Initials that spell words and not the good kind
I hope you are kidding.........
Yes, she will get made fun of. Find a different name.
