TTC after 35

I am a dorkus majorcus.

Seriously.

I'm afraid to put my laptop on my lap because it's 7DPO and I'm worried the radiation will prevent my potentially fertilized egg from implanting.

So, despite my crushed C3, C4, and C5 vertebrae, I'm reaching down to my knees to type this on my laptop which is propped on my legs instead of my lap.

I am typing on a legtop.

Yeah. I know. I'm a dork.

  • Ha!  Not a dork.  After my ET and I was on bedrest, I propped a pillow on my lap and put my laptop on top of that to prevent the heat from my laptop from cooking my embies (ridiculous I know).Embarrassed

This whole process makes us a little (or a lot) cuckoo.

    Me:40 AMA, DH:36 0% morph, TTC#1;

  • I dunno, Ladies-- the heat, yes, now I have something else to worry about!-- but the radiation? Like all of a sudden it's going to do damage where it wasn't going to do so before Ovulation?

    I'm a dork.

And I'm addicted to Grey's Anatomy. Which is not helping because it makes me cry all. the. time. Which I already do because I'm a hormonal mess who just wants to grow a baby inside of me.

  • Did I also mention that I'm obsessed with steak and cheese grinders? Yeah. I've had 2 in two days. Not healthy-ish ones that I make myself, but huge greasy ones from a chain sandwich shop with mayo and mustard.

I disgust myself. And yet, I love myself. It's a destructive relationship. LOL

  • Totally rational behavior :)  We're on the same schedule, apparently (7dpo today) and I cried 3 times yesterday over seriously silly stuff (like last night's episode of House) and have eaten corned beef hash with eggs and toast 2 days in a row now.  The nasty canned kind.  I love it.  Can't get enough of it!

Oh just wait until mid-October when the Patrick Dempsey Challenge occurs in the city-- and at the hospital-- where I work! We are very proud of our McDreamy and his Dempsey Cancer Center. I WILL meet him. Oh yes. And I will not feel guilty about wishing he were my BD partner! *swoon*

Of course, he'll think I'm a big, whorey slob if I can't get over my steak-and-cheese sub craving...

  • Legtop- LOL! :)
  • I did the same thing.  After IUI #1, I was worried about all his little dudes swimming around and decided that the heat / wifi signals would kill them off.  I put my laptop back on the desk and plugged in the ethernet.  I also banished my phone from near me since I wasn't sure about the wifi waves.  Luckily, most of my IUIs have been on weekends, so I'm able to unplug and stay away from the electronics.  Embarrassed  Paranoia...

This whole thread had me cracking up! I too am a HUGE Grey's Anatomy fan and can totally relate to the blubbering mess I become watching each and every show. And what's up with the cliff-hanger epsidoe from last week. I won't spoil it in case it's still on your DVR.

Yes, we are all a bunch of dorks, but at least we are not alone ;)

Oh no!  Now I have something else to worry about.  I was worried from the heat of the laptop but did not think about the wifi on my iphone.  That is it.  Next IVF cycle I am going to wrap myself in foil while I do my bedrest.

  • Don't forget about cats or other pets sleeping on your abdomen. They do run hotter than humans you know. :-)

  • I caved in-- with MH's full support-- and got my steak and cheese.

Because it makes me happy more than it makes me unhappy.

At my first IVF transfer I actually asked if it was OK for my toy poodle to sleep on my belly.  The nurse was probably trying really hard not to laugh at me.

Think of it this way, you need the protein from the steak and you need the calcium from the cheese.

  • Don't forget the iron! Gotta have iron to build up my blood!

And I need a McDreamy-McSteamy-Dr. Hunt sandwich. You know, for general principle and happy thoughts.

My acupuncturist actually encouraged my little Yorkie sleeping on my tummy.  Big Smile

Too hot being wrapped in foil.  Will have to come up with some sort of foil tent.  Big Smile
