wwyd?

If you were a surrogate that was pregnant with twins, and really wanted a vaginal delivery, but the parents lived out of the area? Would you opt for an elective C-section regardless of the babies positions?

Just so you know, the surrogate parents would be here 3 weeks prior to the due date, and a few weeks after, but I'm sure virtually no one goes overdue with twins.

My mom went overdue with her twins (by one week) and had them both vaginally (unmedicated) so it CAN be done. Stick out tongue However, I'm not sure why it would matter about the parents location if they were going to be coming up that early and staying that long after? I say if you want the vaginal delivery find a care provider who is comfortable letting you try then definitely push for it. There is no reason that you shouldn't be able to try as long as you know how the babies are positioned and you have the correct support. When my mom was pregnant she had to push hard for them to let her but she agreed that she'd labor & deliver in the OR so that if they needed to do a c-section in a hurry they were already there. You've delivered vaginally before so I say go for it.

  • You mean so the parents could make sure they are there? I don't think it makes any difference for that. If you delivered vaginally it would most likely be in that six week window anyway. Most drs won't lert you go over a week or two overdue anyway. And if you ended up delivering earlier than they are there, that would have happened regardless of the scheduled c right?

  • If you really wanted the vaginal delivery then you have that right. Are they planning on helping the surrogate with the recovery of the c-section? My guess is that would be pretty doubtful. If the position of the babies are right for a vaginal delivery as the surrogate you can make that decision. Now, if the position is not right and there would be more risks to the babies  associated with the vaginal delivery than a c-section, than the parents would have the say then.

As long as there is no risk, surrogate gets 100% say on delivery method.
