Ordering from Amazon?

I just ordered a ton of baby stuff from Amazon using our completion discount, and used the Super Saver shipping option so shipping was all free. It said that shipping option was 5-8 business days. But after I placed my order, it said the expected delivery date was between June 5 and June 16... Does anybody have experience ordering through Amazon? Why is it such a long wait if they say 5-8 business days?

Re: Ordering from Amazon?

  • You may be ordering from vendors that are not 'Amazon'. A few of your items may be from user stores.

Despite everything, even when I order from other stores and the ship date is several weeks out I tend to still get my items right away.

Also, I think the 5-8 business days is from the date of the item being shipped and not the date of ordering.

I thought of that but everything says it's sold by Amazon... Oh well it's not stuff we need just stuff that would be nice to have lol.

This plus a lot of places don't count Sat. or Sun. So that's 2-4 more days to add on depending on when they ship it in the week.
  • I ordered and used the SS shipping as well.  I finally went in to cancel my order and they decided to ship that day.  When I went in to cancel, it tells you to come back in 2 hours to see if they were able to cancel.  Amazing how all of a sudden it was packed and ready to go.  Lol.

  • i think that amazon shipping has gotten a lot slower when compared to last year. i ordered some stuff and they shipped it about a week later from my order date. but i dont mind when their prices are usually lower than most. i love diapers.com for the very reason that they get my stuff very next day and have an awesome customer service.

Something similar happened to me at Christmas it took them 2 weeks just to send it out and then it was saying it would arrive after Christmas I was livid considering I ordered at beginning of dec. directly from Amazon and was told it was guaranteed before Christmas.  I called and talked to customer service who resent the items next day for free.  I returned the other items when they arrived.  To be honest I think they are pushing prime so much they are purposely slowing down the free service.  After the whole Amazon Mom prime thing and Christmas I am done with them.  What annoys me about Amazon mom is you have to pay for prime to get the discount but you can?t use prime shipping on diapers so really you are not getting a discount at all if you don?t use their other services or are not buying diapers all the time because you need to recoup the 80 bucks before you are seeing savings

  • When you checked out, it should have told you when the anticipated ship date was.  In my case, I ordered a ton of stuff (with my completion discount, all sold by Amazon), but the baby wash I ordered wasn't going to ship until the middle of June.  I have a prime membership, so I got most of my stuff within 2 days.  The baby wash came 2 days later.

FYI nikkks84 - diapers.com was bought out by Amazon.  I don't know if that will have an effect on their shipping and customer service...I guess time will tell.  But soon after they purchased diapers.com the prices of Amazon's diapers went up and they totally changed the Amazon mom discount program.  :(

  • I love amazon. I usually get my shipments really quickly, and I live in Hawaii. I wouldn't fret just yet. You're usually able to track your orders when you purchase directly from amazon too.

  • I ordered last Tuesday and they said 5-8 business days as well. I got half of my order today.

Were their supplies back ordered and needed to replenish before shipping.

I have ordered a lot of stuff from diapers.com and absolutely love them. Amazon had a lot of items I wanted for cheaper though, and some that diapers.com didn't have. It's my first time ordering from them so I was surprised at the long wait time. I get that it's business days and it may take a few days before the items ship, but they're all coming directly from Amazon and they're quoting me 13-21 business days

  • I ordered from Amazon and got a similar response.  I believe it's because some places the orders don't leave right away and some things get back ordered.  I only had one item ship same day and arrive at the begining of the anticipated arrival window.

I also noticed that the majority of my registry items on Amazon didn't qualify for my completion cupon.  Not entirely sure why but it sure didn't make me happy.

  • I ordered a bunch of things like this and it gave me a July17-Aug 17 ship window. Within a few days if was moved to being delivered by May 19th. I feel like if you're not paying for shipping, getting a good price AND a discount there's no reason to complain.

I got mine a week after I ordered them using the Completion Coupon.

  • I just placed my registry completion order and had the same thing happen. I looled through my things and discovered taht everything was in stock except for 1 item which say it can take 4 to 5 weeks extra to ship. I figured this probably creates some sort of glitch in the system. Based on my previous experiences with Amazon, I'm pretty confident that it will all arrive quite soon even though the estimate says June 20th or whatever. I'm just going to ignore it for now and see how it goes.
  • I placed a large order a few weeks ago with my completion discount (approx $500). It was giving me a delivery date of June 2-9th or something like that for the bulk of the order. I ended up receiving everything by last Friday.

A lot of times with super saver shipping they will estimate that the delivery will be much later than it actually is. Generally, when I use super saver shipping I receive everything within a few days. This was the longest I have ever waited and it was about a week and a half.

  • As PPs have mentioned, it depends on whether the order is coming from Amazon itself or an affiliated seller. Also, some things ship late - usually there's a small notice under the shipping info for the item if that's the case. That happened with the nursing cover that I was going to order, but luckily my friend pointed it out and I changed the item.

I wasn't really complaining, just curious on other's experiences. Also, if this is the case, then they shouldn't quote this shipping option as 5-8 business days
