How long after the new baby arrived would you/did you wait to potty train the older lo? I think H is ready but I read some where not to make too many major changes right after baby comes along...Thoughts anyone?
I would just base it off of how the child acts. Does she act ready to try? I might attempt but not push it at all since she just got a new sibling. Otherwise, I'd wait a couple of months until the newness has worn off on the new baby and give it a shot! We did it in 3 days recently. She's officially been out of diapers for 1 week 1 day and she is doing great. It's so much easier!
DD1: August 2009
DD2: December 2010
DS: August 2012
M/C 9/2013, 12/2013
DD3: October 2014 - April 2015 Miss you baby girl.
We waited until the baby was sleeping thru the night.
Sleep deprivation + potty training seemed like a bad combo to me since patience is key.
Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
I didn't even want to try before he turned 2 (and she would be barely past the "newborn," 4 months) - also, for this same reason the pedi suggested waiting until he was at least 2. We did the 3-day method at 27 months and it worked really well. She doesn't recommend doing her method with kids younger than 22 months, regardless of how "ready" they seem. DD is now 18 months and has used the potty at least 3 times on her own initiative - she asks for the potty and then goes. For now, we're letting her explore in this way, but we will wait to do the 3-day method until she's closer to 2.
