Moving to the crib ?

Hello All!

This is my first time on the board, so I am not sure if you get asked this a lot or not.  Here is a little backstory:

I put my DS in the crib from day one home from the hospital.  But, somewhere around 3 months, we started bedsharing (he would start in the crib, then I would be tired, and nurse him in our bed and we would fall asleep- no covers or pillows and I am a light sleeper, so if he moved a fingertip, I would wake and check to make sure his face was uncovered, etc).  I don't know how people feel about this on here, but I usually don't share very much about our bedsharing, just because I do get some grief and warnings.

With DD, I started bedsharing from day 1.  I don't know what the difference was (other than she is our last) but it just 'felt' right.  We have done excellent with it, and even when she was smaller and would be in the bassinet, once I went to bed, I would take her and sleep with her.  My DH sleeps on the couch (yes, I know, flame away!).  This works for us.  But, now that DD is starting to move around a bunch, I worry about her safety in bed.  She is 6 months old.  Do I move her to the crib?  Did anyone do this, and have a transition story to share with me?  We have tried to put her in the crib to start the night, and she either wakes soon after (she rolls on to tummy and starts screaming) or after a few hours (same scenario).

Any thoughts?  I don't know if I am ready to have her in a crib, but I am also wanting to make sure she is safe.  I could start sleeping with her on the floor, but not sure if that is good for her back and such.

Thanks!

  • I was going to recommend sidecarring too. We have a Full sized bed and bedsharing worked for awhile but now that she's getting close to rolling over we decided to move her crib in and side car. Its working ok so far. She slowly migrates toward me and by the time dh leaves for work shes back in bed with me. But the main thing is that I don't worry about her falling off the bed.
