Pumping Help

My LO is just over 2 weeks and is not gaining enough weight so my pedi suggested pumping to know how much she is getting. The first 2 times I pumped I got a good 2 oz. The last few nights..NOTHING, my medela pump in style doesn't want to work with me. This is the frustrating part - my manual pump is working great but is so time consuming. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Pumping Help

  • are the membranes (the white flapper thing) stuck closed, or are they not closing all the way?

  • I would go to youtube and search for videos on how to assemble your pump properly. Maybe it's not on right.
  • Pumping is not a reliable way to see how much LO is getting.  Babies are much more efficient that pumps.  I would see if you could take her in and weigh her before and after a feeding to be sure.

This. Your pedi may do this for you, and a LC definitely will.
