I would love anyone's opinion on what you think is the best custody arrangement for two girls, ages 2 and almost 4. Keeping in mind that I, the mom, have always been the main custodian. But they sure do love their daddy, so that's not an issue. And we live only a mile apart, with Daddy living in their old house, so going to visit him is very familiar.
Once he gets new beds for them and we start having them spend some nights with him (sniff sniff), what do you think is best for that age group?
FYI, I'm thinking:
With me Mon-Tue, Fri-Sat (yes, I know this doesn't give me a weekend, but we live with my mom, who can watch them if I want to go out)
With him Wed-Thur, Sun.
I know this deviates from the typical EOW, but I hate the idea of them spending an ENTIRE weekend away at this young age.
Or is that just fine for this age group?
Thoughts are SO appreciated.
Re: Best schedule for 4 and 2 year old
My husband is off work at 5, so it would be more like 5:30-7:30 (that's their bed time).
The only problem is I don't think he'll go for seeing them only one day a week on the weeks he doesn't have them for the weekend. And honestly, is that fair to the kids that two weeks a month they only see their dad one day for 2 hours? Doesn't seem like enough.
Ugh. I hate this.
Our schedule with my husband's daughter (it started when she was 4) is 1st, 3rd & 5th weekend of the month from Thursday at 5 pm to Sunday at 5 pm (my husband is off on Fridays), every Tuesday from 5-8 and the 2nd & 4th weekend of the month he has K from Thursday at 5 to Friday at 5. She's in school now so the pickups are from school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This way K doesn't go more than 3 days without seeing him and she's really thrived on this schedule.
