Ok, so babies and food have always seemed so confusing to me. When to start what foods? what texture? Just recetly LO has begun picking up those little dissolving snacks and eating them. But I want to start giving him real food, other than the purees, but not sure what exactly he can have and how much and what texture. Can I start giving him some of our dinner? And if so, he's still learning to pick up the food so it takes him a while, so should I still give him the pureed foods to supplement. In a typical day he eats, multigrain cereal and fruit for breakfast a 7-8oz botle around 10am. Yogurt (which he loves) for lunch, an 7-8 oz bottle around 3, a meat and vegetable for dinner around 6 and a 7-8 oz bottle around 7:30
Re: Need help with what to feed 9 month old?
Babies' primary nutrition should come from breastmilk or formula until a year old. It's perfectly fine if it takes him a while to catch on to feeding himself.
We've been giving DD the foods we're eating since she was 6 months old. It's perfectly fine to offer spoonfuls or to put foods on his high chair tray to let him feed himself.
Popular foods here are: pineapple chunks, edamame, green beans, homemade chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, quesadillas, and cheese

When DD started finger foods I would feed her a puree around 5:30 and then let her eat some of whatever we were eating at dinner (around 6). If she couldn't have what we were eating I would give her some puffs. I would do both for a bit until LO gets the hang of finger foods.
Once LO gets good, he's going to want what you have and not purees, don't worry, you'll know when he's ready.
We started with soft fruits and veggies (banana, sweet potato) and then small pasta now she'll eat anything.
I agree with cottage cheese!
At 9 months we fed DD purees, yogurt, and fruit in the mesh feeder. I usually give her some of what we're eating as long as it's soft and easy for her to eat.
