Sharing a room?

Good morning,

Im sorry if this has been asked a lot but Im not quite sure the best way to have my two boys share a room..my oldest is 22 months and my baby is almost 4 months..my LO still sleeps in our room in a pack n play cause im afraid if i put him in with the older one the cries will wake him up...do i just do it and hope for the best? any advise would be great! as much as I love my LO sleeping next to me, its cutting in on mine and DH alone time.

Re: Sharing a room?

  • We just put ours together at 3 and 23 months. Its fine, but DD takes longer to fall asleep now since all she does is talk to DS.

At that age you may have to just do it and hope for the best. Maybe put the PNP in there and see how it goes for a week. If its hell then try it again in a few months.

I will warn you I have a friend who has 2 young kids share and the older one got our of his crib and ended up in the babys crib on top of him. He wasnt trying to but he was on top of the baby and he couldnt breathe. They got a crib tent and all is fine now.

  • My kids have shared a room from day 1 with no issues. They adapt to the noise fairly quickly. If not, there are things like white noise machines that can drown out the background noise of crying.

  • My daughter was 17 mo and my DS was 4 mo when I moved him into the nursery. My DD had been STTN since she was like 2 mo old, and to this day (will be 2 next month) she doesn't wake up if DS cries at night. DS is just now at 10mo old starting to STTN. I was so worried but even when he is wailing she sleeps like a rock 4 feet away. I'm sure every child is different but try it and see how it goes.

  • P.S nap time has been the real struggle. They stand and talk to eachother the whole time. Finally I learned I have to get dd (my older one) to fall totally asleep first, then sneak DS in there and they will nap. So much harder to nap than to sleep at night! Lol
