TTC After a Loss

TTC after D&C

Last month I went through a d&c after a missed miscarriage. My husband and I are wanting to get pregnant again ASAP. I have read a lot of stories about women getting pregnant within 2-3 weeks of their miscarriage. I was wanting to know your ladies experiences after having a d&c. TIA. :)

Re: TTC after D&C

  • Everyone here is still TTC (and more than a few of us are actually still TTA) after their losses, so no one has had the super speedy success you're hoping for.

My D&C was just over 2 weeks ago and we have to TTA for one cycle before heading back to the RE to start fertility treatments again. I've physically been pretty sore and lacking energy but otherwise I'm doing ok - today's the first day I've felt back to normal.

    Good luck TTC.

Please follow your doc's orders as far as TTC again.  Mine recommended we wait 2 cycles before ttc to allow for mental and physical healing after the surgery.

  • Nobody here's pregnant, that's for damn sure.

It's definitely possible to get pregnant as soon as you ovulate after a D&C. Your doctor should have told you when to try again. Good luck to you.

It was a rough road, but Arlo Daniel was born April 1, 2013—and our second rainbow is due October 12, 2014.

Im sorry for your loss. My cycles were pretty crazy after my d&c. I then conceived on my 3rd cycle after my d&c, yet I'm still here, trying to conceive. Your hormones can be crazy after a miscarriage, not really the best environment to grow a baby.

Listen to your doctors advice about how long to wait, and then listen to your heart about wether you're really ready. Can you emotionally handle losing another pregnancy right now? (not that it will happen, but it can. I really don't think I could have handled my second  loss if I was only a few weeks put from my first.)

And if you want success stories, go ask PgAL where those women are pregnant.

  • The PPs have given good advice.

I also want to add that most doctors advise no tampons/intercourse for 1-2 weeks, or until the bleeding COMPLETELY stops. That usually takes a week or 2. It would be best to talk to your physician to determine when to TTC again.

Let your body and your mind heal; this is an extremely emotional process that we are all still recovering from.

My doctor said it was okay to TTC 3 weeks after my D&C.  I did and we got pregnant.  It ended almost immediately in a chemical pregnancy because my lining wasn't ready yet.  I wish we'd been advised to wait longer.  I would recommend waiting at least one cycle for your body to fully heal.

  • Im so sorry for your loss. I also had a d&c after a missed miscarriage also.  I got pregnant the month after my first period post D&C however that ended in a miscarriage last month. I know my doctor said that it was okay to try again but I still feel like it being so soon might have caused the 2nd m/c. I know that I have read that many women get pregnant right after and go on to have healthy pregnancies. The only thing I can say is talk to your doctor and see what he recommends and what you feel comfortable doing. Good Luck
