My LO finally has 2 bottom teeth. I've tried to wipe them with damp gauze before bed, but she hates it and pushes my hand away. If you've experienced this, how did you get them to let you wipe or brush their teeth?
I got a baby toothbrush and just let her play with it some while she watched me brush my teeth. She tried to mimic me After doing that for a few days, I started approaching her with the toothbrush and she now opens her mouth and lets me brush some. Not sure I do a great job, but it's something!
I have the one you put over your finger and DD thinks it is hilarious. I sit her in my lap and brush her teeth for so long because she giggles the whole time! Then she ends up chewing on it for a while.

DS had 8 teeth by his 9 month checkup and at that point his pedi said we could start brushing them. I just bought a baby toothbrush and swallow safe baby toothpaste and he opened his mouth right up. He sort of bites at it haha
I use a baby toothbrush and she chews on it a bit, but I think she likes it. I've also wiped her teeth with a wet cloth and although she hates it, I do it anyway. She'll thank me someday for taking care of her teeth.
I have been wiping my LOs gums with a washcloth or the finger brush since she was a month or so, and have been using the infant toothpaste (w/o fluoride) since she was 3 months, so she has gotten used to it. BUT, for the last few weeks she has had teeth coming in on top (it didn't matter for the bottom ones because they came in just fine and didn't seem to bother her) and her gums are so sensitive that she throws a fit when I try to put my finger in her mouth. I just keep trying to brush the teeth that are out as best I can at least once a day, but I try to do it in the morning and at night.
I got a baby Orajel tooth brush trainer set. It has a toothbrush sleeve you put on your finger. I set her on the counter while my DH brushes his teeth. She complies very well although she will bite.
This, but I do it while she's in the tub. Once I'm done with brushing I let DD chew on it (with it still over my finger).
Re: brushing the teeth
I will try this.
I also have the one that goes on your finger. DD loves to put everything in her mouth, so it wasn't hard convincing her!
I typically do it after her bath. She's still wrapped in her towel, and I am holding her. She loves to look at herself in the mirror, too.
We also sing a little song while brushing: "We brush your teeth. Cha-Cha-Cha-Cha, Cha-Cha-Cha-Cha". I think that we got it from Raffi, maybe?
