During the A/S ultrasound the technician saw some anomlies with my cervix and consulted with our OB. We were told to go immediately to his office (in the hosptial) as he wanted to discuss some things with us. We were immediately sent to Fetal Assessment. Then our OB told me that my cervix was open. I was diagnosed with incompotent cervix.
We discussed emergency cervical cerclage, but due to the degree I was dilated, the risk of infection was considered to be very high and the chance of a good outcome was considered to be quite low. We decided to not have the surgery.
Two days later, I went into labour and delivered. We lost our beautiful Isabelle last Thursday. She was 21 weeks gestation.
We had just passed the halfway mark. We were excited to see the baby and then we lose her. We thought we were safe. We went from a low-risk pregnancy to losing her all in one day.
