DIY Resizing sleep sacks?

Would this be crazy? DS still uses Halo sleep sacks and he needs bigger ones, but we have so many that it seems like a waste to just shove them in a bin. Would it be crazy to cut out the bottoms below the zipper and add fabric? He's long and skinny so he really doesn't need them wider, just longer.

I'm sure I'll end up just buying new ones, but this seems like more fun.

I actually was considering doing exactly this.  I've got lots of scrap fabric and a sewing machine so why not?  My plan is just to rip the bottom seam out and then add some fabric to the bottom.

  • I think I'm going to try it too! I'll do one and see how it goes--I don't have the greatest sewing skills, but it seems pretty basic!
  • Not crazy, brilliant! I did the same thing to ours. And we cut all the feet off the sleepers he got too long for. Baby stuff isn't cheap so I say do whatever you can to get the most use out of it!

  • I think the only downfall on this would be if you plan to have more kids.  If you do then you would need the smaller shorter sleep sacks again.  Or I guess you could just alter them again.

  • I would! I don't buy them though I've made hers so they're extra long already!
