Cloth Diapering

Circumcision question

I'm having my 3rd boy on Monday but I've never used cloth on a small baby. With my boys I was told to use vasoline while their circumcision healed. I made fleece liners to use but I'm wondering if there is anything CD safe I can use instead. Ds2 uses Grandma El's diaper rash cream and it has lanolin in it. Could I use this or pure lanolin instead? I know you can put it on open sores and it would lubricate DS's penis so it wouldn't stick to the diaper. It seems like it would be ok and I'll ask my OB tomorrow but I was just wondering if anyone had experience with this.

Re: Circumcision question

  • We used gauze pads. It was fine and never got on the diapers. And I would not recommend you using something on a circ other than vitamin A&D or Vaseline.

  • We did gauze pads as well, the larger circle ones. I would squeeze the vaseline on the pads and then cover his circ. I never had any problems with it getting on the diapers, we only had to do it for about 7 days.

  • I agree that you should stick with the vaseline.  We too used gauze pads without any problems.
