Is it ok to dry in dryer?

I am new to cd, so I am wondering if it is ok to dry the pockets and inserts?  I have seen varying comments.  Also, do you remove inserts before washing or do they come out in washer?  TIA

I remove the inserts before washing and dry everything on medium heat.

  • I remove all the inserts before washing.

I throw all the inserts in the dryer on High heat for 1 cycle.  I then throw the covers, pockets, anything with PUL in also and dry it on Low for 1 cycle.

  • I remove the inserts.  There are some brands you don't have to however - Thirsties Duos are a sleeve design, where there are openings on both ends, so the insert will agitate out in the wash.  Same with Swaddlebees AIO - the insert is attached, but it folds out in the washer.  If you have standard pockets that only open on one end, take them out before you throw them in the wet bag so you don't have to dig around in smelly diapers.

I put all of my stuff in the dryer on medium.

I remove the inserts before putting them in my pail so I can throw the whole thing in the washer as is. I must've missed one once, and it ended up in a wad at the end of the pocket. Oops. I dry all my inserts on medium and line dry my covers and pockets. They're usually dry by the time the inserts are done. I take out the microfiber and wipes and run the bamboo and hemp inserts for another short cycle to get them completely dry (or line dry them a little if I don't have time).

I used to dry everything in one cycle on high, but I read an article someone posted on here recently that said that drying microfiber on high can damage the fibers over time and make it less absorbent. It's not that big of a hassle for me, and I now throw my AIO and fitted in the medium heat cycle to get them fluffy & soft.

  • My dryer only has one heat setting--high. So I line dry everything AMAP and then toss my inserts and prefolds into the dryer for 5-10 min to fluff them up.

  • I used to dry everything on medium and then my elastic began to get shot after 1.5 years and new baby was coming. SO I now line dry shells of pockets, covers and AIOs and then stck inserts in dryer and sometimes fluff up AIOs for 5 minutes at the end.
