TTC after 35

Is an IUI painful???

Hello,

This is my second post on here, and I feel like I can relate with a few of you gals, but I have been seeing what you guys post and think you guys are a great group. My BF and I have been TTC for about 1 yr now, and last week I started with medications which where Barvelle 150 & Menopur 75. Went for Ultrasound/Bloodwork on Monday and my E2 was at 551.6 so they schedule me for another ultrasound which was today and I have three mature follicles two on one side and one on the other, can't remember what size they told me they were. And now tonight I trigger and go for my 1st IUI on Friday.  I was wondering if that was too fast because I just started my medcations on Thur-May 3rd and if the IUI hurts.

Would love to join in and be part of the group :)

Any advice is greatly appreciated. I want to wish everyone the best of luck on your journey on TTC  :-)

Re: Is an IUI painful???

  • Welcome to the board!  I had my first IUI on 04/23.  It was not painful at all.  The Clomid was a little tough for me with the hot flashes & migraines, but it was only a few days.  The progesterone after the IUI made me very moody.  I figure that I can live with it all if it works, right.  Unfortunately for me, it didn't work this go around, but my DH's #'s were very low & we're seeing an urologist on Friday to see if we can get his #'s up or else we'll be moving on to IVF.  Feel free to ask as many questions as you'd like.  When I first joined the boards, I did a lot of searches on previous posts to read as much as I could on everything too.  :)

  • Thank You lindaeverly :)

Yeah, I didnt really have any side effects on the Barvelle & Manopur.  I do suffer from migraines, I guess its a good thing not getting one :)

Now I don't know about the progesterone when I start that if I won't be moody..LOL

On the IUI thats what I have seeing that its not that painful, but everyone is different.

Best of luck to you on your journey and lots of baby dust your way.

Your doggies are supper cute! :)

  • Welcome.  I've done 3 IUIs.  My uterus tilts a bit to the front and they have to use something to straighten it out.  It just feels ... Odd.  Not painful.  I am so glad it wasn't bad because my HSGs were excruciating.

    Good luck!!

  • Hey & Welcome!!

I'm on my third IUI now...and I barely ever feel them.  As a pp said, it's a very thin tube.  The speculum on the other hand....hmmmmm......how best to say this....ummmm...is a little "pinchy".  I thought my HSG was much worse.

    Good Luck!

  • I have had 4 and it is similar to a pap.  I do get a slight pinch for a second or two each time, but that's about it.  Only one time I had a UTI afterwards as a side effect.

  • Welcome to the board.  The IUI is no big deal in my opinion.  After it was done, DH and I both asked is that it?  The timing seems to be OK.  Good luck to you.
