So I have been debating on whether to do the whole organic baby wash and lotion or just use Johnson & Johnson, which is much cheaper and smells so much more "babyish". What are you going to use when LO gets here? How many of you plan on using J&J? What's your fav product?

Re: Is Johnson & Johnson a "no-no"?
I love the california baby line. I used the sensitive skin one when they were younger, and now use the 'cranky baby' line at night. They have several scents that are just as good or better IMO than the J&J line.
I prefer to avoid some of the chemicals in Johnson and Johnson myself.
This! We started with J&J, but DD was too sensitive. We also use California Baby.
As pp said though I wouldn't stress too much about it. It's hard to know what will work for your child.

I love Aveeno (I know, owned by J&J). I love the way it smells and my LO's skin is super soft.
I found J&J dried out their skin. Heck. It dries out mine!

Like any lotion or cosmetic you should use something you're comfortable with taking into account that even babies without "sensitive" skin have skin that is more sensitive than adult skin. The cosmetic database is a good place to search.
We didn't use J&J and won't use Aveeno either. I did use CA Baby exclusively but their formula recently changed and we've bought Burt's Bees for the babies. Like a lot of higher end lotions and shampoos they are more expensive but I find you use less so it all comes out in the wash (hah!).
Johnson and Johnson has been a little iffy(is that a word) to me. There has been a lot of articles out there about some of the stuff they use in their products.
My LO has my skin which is super sensistive. I can only use sensitive skin dove on my body. For LO I use Eucerin's Aquaphor shampoo and body wash. It doesn't give you that awesome baby smell but LO's skin is so much better since I started using it. Most places don't sell it though and I have to buy it in bulk on amazon. I may look into some other organic brands at the store and try them. I went with eucerin b/c it was the only lotion I could use and the only lotion I use on LO.
I cannot use anything with a scent on her.
I would suggest getting a variety and see what works best with your LO.
We used CA Baby when DS was a NB and have been using Burt's Bees on him forever. I got some Mustela NB stuff for this baby.
I'm sure J&J stuff is fine, but I'm a bit of a hippy and tend to steer clear of chemicals when I can.

This is us, too. We use Aveeno for everything because DD had issues with the traditional baby J&J products.

We are a no J&J family. I made my own baby food too, one of those moms.
I used Burts Bees, then CA baby. CA Baby recently changed their formula and have more invasive ingredients now. I'm not too happy about that. I still have the older products but once they run out I will either go back to Burts Bees or try Earth Mama.
Check out https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ click on Babies and review the ratings. 0-2 are the safest products.
We still have J&J stuff from my baby shower, but I do like the CA Baby stuff.
For body lotion, we use CeraVe for him. I can't stand the smell of J&J lotion on him though. It's just too overwhelming, IMO.
I avoid all J&J products. They are full of carcinogenic chemicals and I find the smell to be overwhelming. Also, ive heard their tear free shampoo has numbing agents in it to make it tear free. I'd recommend going to the Skin deep database to find something less toxic: https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/
We used to use California baby, now my preference is Babo botanicals and I love the smell of the Oatmilk and calendula line.
I used to be a rep for Arbonne so am familiar with J&J products being known for "numbing babies tear ducts", etc.. I tried to start with Burts Bees but just like me, my DD can't use their products!
major dry skin, cracking, burning etc... we are not tolerant of some ingredient in their stuff. I can't even use their chapstick!
I love Arbonne's baby products as well as Melaleuca's but just can't afford them all the time. I love the California baby sunscreen and it's the only one we use. All that said, I do use J&J bubble baths and such sometimes. I have also had luck with the Suave kids shampoo. Haven't had any issues with them and my DD has sensitive skin like me.
We got a whole bunch of J&J stuff at our shower, but DS's skin was too sensitive for it (he had pretty bad eczema). After trying half a dozen different washes/shampoos, we finally found that the Aquafor Gentle Wash & Shampoo was the best for him.
We recently ran out of Aquafor soap, and gave J&J another shot (since we have so much of it), and it works fine for him now!
We started using it but my son breaks out from it and also breaks out from Burts Bees, he was in the ER at one point in time because he broke out so bad because we tried J & J naturals foam.
We now use Aveeno and that is the only thing that he hasn't broken out from and we don't plan to change
Use what you like and what works for your baby
I skipped the J&J because of the chemicals. I have a hard time trusting Burt's Bees since they're owned by Clorox so I go with California Baby. I'm pretty crunchy though--cloth diapers, compostable disposables, organic homemade food etc--so J&J didn't fit in there.

We use Everyday Shea Butter for Baby, which I found at Whole Foods and is a lot cheaper than CA Baby, but just as natural and free of parabens, etc.
I don't like J&J not just for the chemicals, but I think the quality is a lot lower. We once bought the J&J Natural because that was all they had at the grocery store and it was crap and we used it up really fast, it just didn't go as far.
We preferred California Baby and Method Baby with DD. That's what we'll use again this time.
The J&J stuff has some strange ingredients and is very drying. It is also mostly water, so you go through a whole bottle very quickly.
I see a lot of people suggesting Aveeno as an alternative. Aveeno is owned by Johnson and Johnson and they spend a lot of money on their product branding/labeling to make Aveeno seem like a natural or organic product. It is sort of tricking consumers in my opinion, since Aveeno has the same ingredients as J&J products (they just add appealing things on the label like oatmeal to make you think it is a superior or more gentle product).
I totally agree with the above. J&J products have never set foot in my house. I got some of their stuff at my baby shower with my first son either donated it or gave it away. The chemicals in their products really bother me, and the smells are overpowering. Ever since I have started to use more natural personal care products the overwhelming smells associated with more mainstream products just overpower me. I want my baby to smell like a baby, not like chemicals.
I have used quite a few different products. All of the products I have ever used on DS have been a 0 score on the cosmetics database. I have some old California Baby fragrance free but I am using the Earth Mama Angel Baby shampoo and baby wash right now. Smells nice but doesnt leave a lingering scent. And no nasty chemicals. I also like that I can buy a HUGE refill bottle and just refill my foaming bottle when I run out.
ETA: We didnt use lotion with ds. Every night after bath time as part of our night time routine I did infant massage with ds and used coconut oil. Completely chemical free, good for the skin, and smells like the beach.
