Nap HELP!

I am sure this has been posted a hundred times, but I am really in need of some help. My girls will be 4 months on Sunday. They are sleeping good for us at night ( thankful for that) . One of my girls will wake once to eat and the other will usually STTN.

The last 2 weeks they had really fallen into a nap schedule on their own. They would take a morning and afternoon nap and sometimes an evening cat nap. I had such happy babies... It was wonderful!  Then this week they are on nap protest!!   I  lucky if I get 30 minutes out of them!  This weekend was pretty busy and they were not on a schedule, could that mess them up that much?

What kind of sleep schedule are/were you on at around this time?  Any tips you could share would be greatly appreciated. I hate to complain because they are sleeping well at night finally, but you can tell they need the sleep during the day.  Also did you do naps in cribs?  We have not done this yet. I tried this morning and they lasted 30 minutes.

TIA

Do your girls take soothers? I found this was key for me to get my boys to go back to sleep! They would always wake up around the 30-45 min mark and I would pop in the soother and turn on their sleep sheep again and eventually they would go back to sleep . I found the less I went in their room the better! Sometimes they would whine for a while but eventually they would just go back to sleep....I had to be really consistent with this routine for the first few weeks but now even if we have a day where we are out and about it doesn't throw them off too much. My boys are now 6 months and sleep 1.5-2 hours in morning, 2.5-3 hours in afternoon and in bed b/w7-7:30 for the night besides a dream feed at 10. They wake up anywhere between 6:30-8:00 am. Oh and yes they do nap in cribs...took them a bit to get used to it but I think they get a much better sleep in their own room as opposed to in a swing, pack n play etc.

I started this routine when they were about 4 months (colicky before that so there was no way they would sleep that long) and at the 6 month mark I would say we have it pretty down pat! Good luck, keep at it, having great sleepers really pays off in the long run!

  • Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. Neither one of my girls will take a paci or if they do they spit it out within a few seconds. We have the sheep and humidifier or fan for noise which works well at night. I will have to do that at nap time too.  You can tell they are tired during the day but fight it. I am hoping that this is a faze and my good nappers will return. Thanks again for the advice. I really do appreciate it.
