Just have one why deprive yourself. It will do you or baby no harm! At LEAST 4times a week I have a soda and deli meat on a sandwhich for lunch. Did the exact same with DS and he's fine relax and enjoy your diet coke!
I was a full on diet coke addict pre-pregnancy. I tried to cut back before conceiving, and reudced to about 4 cans per day. I was nervous about drinking all that crap during pregnancy. My OB said it was FINE to have a can every day if I wanted. Luckily my MS has deterred me from doing so, but if I wanted to, I guess I could!

I was a diet coke addict before getting pregnant as well. I refuse to have one, not because I'm worried about the effects, I'm afraid I'll start binge drinking it. For me it would be like an alcoholic having one drink. Not. gonna. happen.
I'll have a caffeine-free diet Coke here and there. I know the artificial sweeteners probably aren't that great for you or baby so I don't do it all the time. I always do caffeine-free though because I find that the more caffeine I drink, the more I crave. Therefore, I cut it out altogether during pregnancy.
I've tried to cut out caffiene in beverage form this pregnancy but once in a while I need something. I've noticed though if I have something with caffiene I get a headache quickly. I actually haven't craved a diet coke so much as a mocha frappe from McDonalds! OMG those are tasty!
If you're craving a diet coke then have one silly! LOL. There are so many things out there telling you what you should and shouldn't have. I talked to my doctor about it and he told me that you would need to have like 12 diet pops a day for weeks and weeks before it COULD cause any problems. One of the previous posts was correct... moderation is key. If I want one or two diet pops in one day then I will have them. If I want a hot dog or lunch meat, I'll have it. Even coffee or tea. Go ahead and indulge in your diet coke craving!
I still drink diet pop daily but try to avoid ones with caffeine. I have been drinking a lot of diet 7-up and diet black cherry. When out to eat I don't hesitate to order a diet coke. The funny thing is that I hadn't drank pop in year till I was pregnant with DD. I craved it and since have been drinking it regularly.

I agree with all the PPs..no harm in a little Diet Coke here and there. My OB actually recommended I drink half a cup of caffeinated soda in the early afternoon to avoid these horrible headaches I was getting every night...worked like a charm!
Same here. I drink a regular coke or a sweet tea every other day or so.
I've been drinking soda when I want it. (1 or even 2 in a day on some days.) Today I had a small dunkin donuts coffee and it was da bomb! I eat greek salads with feta about 3 times a week. (Panera Bread's feta is pateurized FYI)
My ob said that having one caffeniated beverage a day was totally fine! I dont indulge that often but I do every now and then! Prior to being prego I never drank soda and rarely coffee-but ever since I was prego I want COKE all the time haha this baby must really like the sugar!
I have not really been told not to eat or drink anything. They forgot to give me the sheet during my first appt. Anyway, even though I hear "Oh you can't eat this"or "ou can't eat that" I still do. I drink soda, I drink coffee, I have eaten deli meat and hot dogs. I've eaten tuna from a can The only thing I have not done is eat sushi. If you really want a Diet Coke, drink one. You probably won;t get your mind off of it until you do.
The OP never said caffeine is her concern. I am still drinking tea daily, but avoid diet sodas due to the artificial sweeteners. I'm fine with having a soda occasionally, but I make sure it's sweetened with cane sugar, not artificial sweeteners or HFCS.

While I don't drink alot of soda, my doctor is more concerned about artificial sweetners than anything else to do with soda. I have thus switched to regular, mostly decaf, but will allow myself the occasional soda with caffeine. Having regular soda as opposed to diet is a real treat for me!!

I still drink soda, though I have really cut back. It's not just because I'm pregnant, but because I know it's better for me not to have any if I can. The caffeine is an addictive drug...not everyone becomes addicted to it, but some people do (and I have been before...it works on your body just like any other addictive drug). The sugar is also not really good for you (and research is pointing towards sugar being a toxin to your body that it just doesn't handle well, and is leading people to all sorts of health problems). Needless to say, I feel guilt every time I indulge. I don't drink coffee or real teas (make from the tea plant) anymore for religious reasons. I can't drink diet sodas because of the artificial sweeteners. My body reacts to them, most often with an immediate upset stomach...I bet if I continued on I would have more reaction than that, but I've always stopped at that. Once I made the connection between the reaction and the artificial sweeteners, it's only happened by accident.

Several weeks ago at a pizza place they had a frosty Diet Coke in a can! My favorite! I gave in and guzzled it in seconds.
A week or so later at a mexican restaurant they had Coke in a bottle -- from Mexico with REAL sugar. YAY! I indulged in one of those, too.
I've never been a big soda drinker, so when I have a craving for it I never deny myself.

Have the diet coke! Its all in moderation!
