Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

How many LOs have outgrown changing table?

My LO has pretty much outgrown the changing table. Her feet just about hang over the end of it. We are getting ready to move into a new house and in the process are going to switch from a crib to a toddler bed and are really thinking about getting rid of the changing table also since she hardly fits on it. Just wondering how many other LOs have outgrown theirs also and wonder where do you change them at?  TIA

  • I think I got rid of the changing table before my son turned one. We just use the bed or the floor. He is not a fan of getting his diaper changed so it was safer that way.

I just change LO on the floor.  Changing her diaper is like wrestling an alligator anyways so it just easier to do on a flat surface where she can't fall and hurt herself.

I still use the changing mat even though she is totally too big for it though.  I just keep on the floor in her room.

  • DS is potty trained with the exception of naps and bedtime so I still use the table to change his pullups and get him dressed for the day.

  • I think he outgrew it by 18 months.  Now he gets changed on the floor.

  • We didn't buy a typical change table for L since we were short on storage space, we bought this Hemnes 8 drawer dresser from Ikea:

HEMNES 8-drawer dresser IKEA Solid wood, a hardwearing natural material. Adapted for GARNITYR box set of 7 - keeps cabinets and drawers organized. It's long, so he's not going to outgrow it anytime soon.  He still lays still for his diaper changes for the most part, so we're going to keep using it for a while.

  • Our son for a very long time was just giant for the changing table, probably since 12 months. For the past month or so I've just been changing him on the couch. It's easier and if I turn a fav tv show on he doesn't try to get away. We still have the changing table up because we'll need it in a couple months with the new baby anyways. But we'd probably have put it away, otherwise.

  • Thankfully DD can still fit on her changing table, because it's a nightmare to try and change her anywhere else.  I can't do it with her standing up, because she will try to run away.  If I do it on the floor, she rolls over and won't let me finish.  At least on the changing table, she is up against the wall so she can't move too far.  I'm not sure what I'll do when she gets any bigger!

  • If I make Ky lay down she would be close to hanging over the edge but the only time she lays on it is for a poop diaper. She wears those slip on diapers and I just slide the pee ones off because she goes potty at every diaper change. To get dressed she stands on the table because she likes to help by stepping into her pants/skirt/shorts.

  • We stopped using the changing table as soon as DS started rolling over really well. I was always afraid he would roll off the side or something. So I just lay him on the floor to change him. I still use the changing table to store all of his diaper items.

This. We started using the floor instead around 7 months. It just wasn't safe anywhere else.
