Update - MY DH

Hi Ladies,

Thanks for you kind words and well wishes last week.  I'm sorry I haven't been able to update you sooner.

My DH was finally released from hospital on Friday.  After running a full gambit of tests they still do not have a definitive diagnosis.  The pain, and pins and needles have disappeared but he still has no feeling in the bottom of his feet.  We have been referred to a special clinic to try determine if this a isolated occurrence or if it is the start of something more serious, and to figure out the best way to prevent recurrence. 

At this point it's back to normal, (or as normal as it can get) and until we learn different.

I'm worried, and trying not to research the suspected condition on the internet, trying not to look at the stats, trying not to catastrophize. 

Honestly - feeling really overwhelmed.

I am glad that he is out of the hospital and feeling better.  You must be so very scared.  If I could do anything for you, I would.  Right now, I can offer virtual hugs

I'm sorry you're going through all this. Uncertainty makes everything seem worse than it is. I do the same thing - going straight to the worst case scenario. Thankfully, usually it's not the case.

When is his appointment with the specialty clinic? I hope they can give him a solid diagnosis so that you can move forward.

We are waiting for the referral from the Neurologist to the clinic to go through and then should hear from the Nurse Co-ordinator with a date for the appointment.

These usually come through quickly so fingers crossed it is this week.

My heart goes out to you and your DH. Uncertainty is the worst.

If it makes you feel better, though, I'm guessing if the Neurologist is referring you to a more specialized specialist, then whatever is causing this for DH is not something like MS, ALS, etc. because there are obvious tests for that kind of issue. So that's a good thing!

I had similar sensations in my feet and my upper thigh/quad-- and ended up with a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia. Not great, but not life-threatening either. FX it's just something like that!

I'm glad he is feeling a little better but oh my how scary this must be for you two. I hope the dr's can find out what the problem is. Many hugs to you and YH.
