IVF question

in TTC after 35
IVF #1 was a BFN.  I will go in Wednesday for my beta but today's HPT was a BFN so I expect nothing different.  I am going to cycle again right away.  Does anyone know if I have to take 3 weeks of BCP again or can I start stims again right away?

    Boo...I'm so sorry about your BFN.  I'm not sure about the BCP's, I would wait until your WTF to see if your RE has any protocol changes in mind for your next IVF.  Some clinics use BCP's to sync all the patients up together if they only have IVF cycling at certain times of the month for instance.  Others use it for suppression.  I was only on BCP's for 10 days if I remember correctly.  Also, my clinic requires 1 natural cycle in between before you can do another IVF cycle just to let your body and ovaries recover from all the hormones.  Good luck and let us know how the WTF goes.  Again, I'm so sorry about the BFN!

    I'm sorry for the BFN this morning, and for what the next couple of days may be like.

    If you're going to do the same protocol, they'll probably want to suppress you again. We changed things up for my second, so I didn't have to do BCPs, wore E patches for a few days instead. Good luck.

    Me: 36, DH: 42
    Dx: DOR and MFI

    DH: low count + very low motility; hormones all normal; Sperm DNA Frag. test = poor to fair; male karyotyping normal
    Me: FSH 13.4 + AMH 0.26 + hypothyroidism; Scratch the hypothyrodism (?); Blood clotting and immune panel all negative; endometrial biopsy normal

    IVF #1 (MDLF - Jul/Aug 2011): BFN (9R, 5M, 3F with ICSI, 3dt of 1 10-cell grade 2, no frosties)
    IVF #2 (EP-antagonist - Sep/Oct 2011): BFN (6R, 4M, 3F w/ ICSI, 3dt of 1 6-cell, 1 7-cell, grade 4s, no frosties)
    DE IVF #1 (shared cycle - June 2012): c/p (6R, 6F w/ICSI, 3dt 1 8-cell grade A- and 1 7-cell grade A-; no frosties)
    DE IVF #2 (shared cycle with new donor - Nov/Dec/ 2012): - BFP!!!!! 12/14/12. U/S on 12/27 shows twins!!!!!

    I'm so sorry. I could not cycle right away and needed to get a natural period in between. I would not jump right into stimming. Your ovaries need a rest.

    My WTF will not be until Friday.  I do know that my clinic doesn't synch people based on the calendar.  They even do appointments on holidays such as Christmas.  I am regretting my decision to move next to an elementary school.  I have to get out of town so I am thinking of doing a cruise to the Bahamas.  I have DH and 4 other friends going with me.  So I guess it looks like it will be sometime in the next two months and not within 3 weeks if I am going to have to wait to cycle again.

    Hi CountryGirl,

    I am so, so sorry about your BFN. A trip to the Bahamas sounds like just what the doctor ordered.

    I don't have exact information since I am just entering my first IVF cycle, but I do know that both of my RE's require a rest cycle between IVF and/or IUI. I think this is pretty standard practice.

    I hope you can take some time to do things you enjoy. 

    ttc since 2/2010 ~
    me (36): Hypothyroid (on Levothroid), low vit. d, borderline/high fsh (day 3: between 7-10) (day 10: 13 during CCCT), AFC: 14
    dh (31): awesome (minus one sample with agglutination)
    Diagnosis:possible DOR and/or unexplained + elevated NK cells + MTHFR (C677T - one copy)

    MAY 2011 - FEB 2012 - 3 injectable IUI's with numerous cancellations due to high TSH levels
    MAY 2012 - onto IVF/ICSI (Antagonist Protocol) on BCP and Folgard (3 week delay - cyst - boooo) 5/21 start stims 5/30 ER 11R 8M 3F 6/2 3DT of 3 6/12 Beta #1 83 | 6/14 Beta #2 196 | 6/21 Beta #3 3818 | 6/28 Beta #4 22,213 | 7/2 1st U/S - 2 on board! 8/24 CVS reveals that we have a boy AND a girl on board!

    Healthy baby boy and girl born in February, 2013 at 38 weeks and 2 days!

    My nurse just called in to check on me.  I still have to do the beta and the WTF and I can't stop the supplements yet.  We do have a tentative plan that as soon as AF comes, I will start BCP for three weeks and then stim again.  So I guess I am going to the Bahamas sometime in the next three weeks as long as DH doesn't back out.

    Great that you can get right back in and super wonderful about the Bahamas.

    Well, no Bahmas for me.  Everyone has different needs and I don't think that I can meet them all in the next three weeks.  DH is also kind of fussy about it and I feel like right now I need to focus on me and not making everyone else happy.

    This...IVF failure #1 was 3/15, I won't be starting stims for IVF #2 until 5/17.....

    Me = 39 DH = 50 TTC (since 01/2009 after a short break, I stopped counting *cycles* in 2010)
    DX 2010 : Unknown Infertility , AMA
    HSG 2005 = Normal / HSG 2010 = Normal
    SA 2005 = Normal / SA 2010 /2012 = Slightly low count : motility, morphology GREAT!
    Chromosomal analysis, MTHFR, ANA's, Lupus, Protein C, Protein S, APCR = Normal 2011

    M/C : 2005 (7wk), 2010 (6wk), 2011 (7wk)

    8 IUI's 2010-2011 all BFN

    1 U/S  6w3d - Heartbeat 119 /  2 U/S - 7w5d- Heartbeat 169 / 3 U/S (OB) 8w5d - Heartbeat still great!

    I'm sorry about the BFN.  :-(  I'd definitely wait a cycle.  I'm in my first natural cycle post-IVF right now, and it's wonky -- not even sure if I've O'd yet.  (Plus I have to admit I haven't been very good about temping.)  But lots of women have residual cysts, etc., from IVF -- give your body a chance to get back to normal before revving it up again.
