Possible allergies?

Hi all,

I am beginning to suspect that my DS has an allergy to something, but il not sure. He didn't really show ant symptoms until after his 2nd birthday. He had reflux where he was vomiting about once or twice a week. We put him on Prevacid for about 4 months and he didn't vomit anymore after we took I'm off. He also has eczema. The thing that is really concerning me is that, since October, he has had a old that has turned into a respiratory issue about once every 4-6 weeks. It's so bad that we have to give him nebulizer treatments when it happens. Should I ask for allergy testing? Has anyone had similar experiences? Thank ou in advance.

Re: Possible allergies?

  • If it were me, I'd make an appointment with a pediatric pulmonologist because of the respiratory issue.  DS had a chronic cough and we went to a pulm, and they did comprehensive testing... a reflux study (he has it), a swallow study to see if he is swallowing into his lungs (which he is) and some allergy testing (all negative so far).  The combination of medications they've given him has "cured" the cough.  Once he's stable for a while, we're going to remove medications to see what is helping.

HTH - our pulmonologist is AWESOME.

You could also try a combination allergy/asthma person - our guy does both and he's been very helpful.  My son has improved a lot since we started pulmicort.
