Anyone make their own nursing pads?

Contoured, to be exact? I sew almost anything (my PP pads where intimidating but turned out fabulous the first try!) These nursing pads should be simple but are really giving me grief! I don't know if it's just post birth haze or what but they all keep turning out horribly wonky. I've googled so many tutorials my heads spinning. Anyone have any suggestions or a favorite tutorial for them? I've already wasted a yard of my favorite fabric and that's not great right now because I can't afford to keep buying more.
