We are having the party most likely 12-4 or 1-5. He takes a nap in the AM and then another one around 3:30 but is okay if his second nap gets pushed back.
I plan on having lots of food. There is no such thing as too much food at a party!
For nibbles as everyone arrives....
Pretzel nuggets with dipping sauces(tray from a local pretzel company)
Goldfish(Suess theme...this will be our goldfish buffet)
Popcorn(Hop on Pop popcorn!)
Spinach dip in a bread bowl
Then for lunch.....
Meatballs
Sausage and peppers
Rolls for sandwiches
Penne in vodka sauce
Tray of pinwheel wraps
Potato salad
coleslaw
tossed salad
chicken nuggets
tater tots
This is normal for a party in my family. I will be making the meatballs and sausage and peppers ahead of time and reheating in a crock pot. For the pasta, I'll make the penne right there at the party(location has a full kitchen) and dump the reheated sauce over it(sauce will also be made ahead of time) Nuggets and tots will just get tossed in the oven. Salad is simple to make. We'll be ordering the wraps, cole slaw and potato salad.

Since DD's schedule basically changes every day, we just decided to schedule it for 3:00, and when she gets tired, she can go nap.
As for food, I am not completely sure what we are doing. My grandma and aunt are going to make a few things, and we might to a taco bar, just because it is easy. We are still in the process of firming up the menu though.
We're doing the party from 1PM to 3PM. Just cake and icecream, and a few snack foods probably. DS naps in the morning and usually goes down between 9 and 11, and he's really not taking a consistent afternoon nap, and it seems like it's getting later and later these days. Today he napped for half an hour at 4. But, no matter what I think we're safe with 1-3
We're doing her party from 1-4, and if she ends up needing a nap then she can go take one. As for food, we will probably do:
Shredded BBQ chicken with rolls for sandwiches
Salad or Asian cole slaw
Chips and dip
veggie tray
fruit tray
Cup cake tower
We are actually going to end up having 2 parties because we will be out of town visiting the IL on her actual birthday and I want to have on here with my family and our friends.

We haven't decided on a time yet. Undecided on whether or not we'll do food. We're doing a bunch of homemade ice cream, so we're going with an ?ice cream social? theme. I still have quite a bit of time to think.

We were just at an ice cream themed party yesterday. Party was 12-3. It was for a 6 year old. They did burgers and hot dogs on the grill and all the topping(including some hot topping like chili) And then several side dishes...mainly salad but she did have mac and cheese for the kids.
Another guest at the party said she always has her kids' parties from 2-4 so the only thing she needs to serve is some nibbles like chips and a veggie tray and then cake.

Ours is from 1-4. We're having cake and ice cream and fruit salad. It's too expensive to feed everyone a meal and i think it's tacky to have people bring food so no meal. Plus I'd like it to be short and sweet and this way people have to leave to eat. DH's family tends to overstay their welcome sometimes.
I was thinking of having mine at 2 but wonder if it's too late. Will definitely have food (sandwiches, salads, BBQ) and cake. If she's tired, she'll nap. The sound of people talking will put her to sleep.
We are doing it from 1-4. My daughter rarely, rarely takes an afternoon nap--however she loves her morning nap. She tends to nap between 9:30-11:30 or 10-12. So I figured one will be perfect. She also tends to go to sleep early--like around 6:00-6:30, so it will give her enough time to wind down from the party.
We are going to grill. However our back up plan is pizza if it rains.
We plan on having hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, coleslaw, pasta salad.
We had DD#1's birthday party in the evening when all of her naps were over with. We had supper, which we had fried turkey, meatballs, fruit & veggie trays with dip, cheesey potatoes, cake and ice cream. It was nice to have it in the evening because we had all day to prepare and people could stay as long as they wanted. We had her party at my parents house, as almost all of my family lives in the area and don't get to see her often. I didn't want people to feel like they were on a time limit to visit with us.
The theme is The Very Hungry Caterpillar so we incorporated some of the foods from the book. Our baby usually sleeps when she is tired weather there are people or not.
Our party is 11:30am ? 3pm. It's after his first nap and before his second nap. Our theme is Jake & the Neverland Pirates and we are serving round sub trays (captain's wheel), goldfish & potato chips (fish & chips), gummy fish (catch of the day), grapes (cannonballs), pasta salad (Shipwreck Salad) & then cake. We will also have (pirate) beer, soda, water and (Mr. Smee's) iced tea. It's a pool party with mostly adults.
salad, pasta salad, fried chicken, rigationi with sausage/meatballs, pizza, party potatoes and a variety of apps and of course cake and cake pops for dessert.
I'm not really worried about nap time. There will be plenty of people there and he sleeps way better in someones arms rather than the crib, so I'm sure if he's tired he will get his nap in.
I think we are going to wait until after what is now his 2nd nap (late afternoon, 3-5 or something). This way if he drops his am nap and starts to go with just the afternoon nap we should have napping out of the way for the day.
I plan to serve something fairly light since it's between meals--maybe some light sandwich makings (lunchmeat, cheese, rolls) and fruit, veggie tray, and cookies and cupcakes, plus a small smash cake for DS of course I think we are keeping it to just family--I had a longer guest list going but it was starting to stress me out and I realized I shouldnt get so stressed over his first birthday--it's supposed to be fun and happy--I have plenty of years to throw a bigger party with other kids! I think I'll have my hands full enough with managing my family and ILs--not the best dynamic there.

We're doing brunch starting at 11. DS generally takes a nap around 2. We kind of owe all DH's relatives a meal, so I picked brunch because it's easy.
Fruit salad, hash brown casserole, baked french toast, sausage and bacon, coffee, orange juice. And then cake.
