Eggs

So I believe LO are only to have egg yolks until 1 so for those of you that do eggs, do you just separate the yolk from the white or what?  TIA!

Re: Eggs

  • I tried to separate at the beginning, but then I realized I'd given her many foods that included eggs....so I started giving her the whole thing and she hasn't had any problems. There are no food allergies in our family so I wasn't too worried.

  • We also went ahead and gave DD the whole egg. She has had no trouble. Our pedi said it was fine to continue since she had no trouble, but that she would not have recommended it if we had asked her first.

  • Our pedi said it was fine to give DD the entire egg, but it turns out she's allergic :(  But, she's fine when egg is cooked into something (muffins, french toast, etc) so we continue to give her those things.

DD has been eating scrambled eggs since she was 6 months old.  No reason to wait unless there's a history of allergy in the family.

This. DD loves hard boiled eggs too.

  • We just saw our pedi last week for their 9 month appt and I asked about eggs. She said egg yolks and whites were ok as long as they were cooked thoroughly and there was no family history of allergies.

  • I never seperated them, she's been eatting whole scrambled eggs since 6 months. The "rules" recently changed here (NB Canada) and they say there's no need to wait.

How did you know she was allergic?  I'm just curious for what to watch out for.

  • Our pedi said it wasn't necessary to give yolks only, so DS has always had the whole egg with out any problems.

We also give the whole egg, and haven't had any problems. Pedi didn't protest, either.
