We went crib mattress shopping this past weekend and got a little overwhelmed. We want whatever will be best for DS, so tell me what you picked or what you've heard about crib mattresses. Thanks!
Unexplained. IVF#2 worked! Beta at 10dp6dt = 154, Beta at 13dp6dt = 603
We made our decision based on the fact that we are getting convertible cribs. For baby a foam mattress is a great idea. It offers lots of support and is light and easy for those middle of the night sheet changes. For the toddlers I have researched that the spring is best. Since we will be converting the beds we ended up with the spring mattresses. I guess DH will be responsbile for middle of the night changes! LOL
We went with spring. From what I remember, in Baby Bargains, it seemed like a toss up? I think they preferred foam, but spring was just fine too, given the expense. Just having something firm (not soft) is key.
We went with spring just because we were having trouble finding foam. I hear the foam are easier to lift though, which would be nice for late night sheet changes.

I sorta was leaning towards foam, but ended up going with spring since they didn't carry foam at BRU and I wasn't sure how else I'd end up with it. We got the Serta Perfect Sleeper. It is a little heavy - I can see how it will be a pain in the late night changes, but it's not horrible..?
I went with foam for DD's bed. Based on Baby Bargains, it seemed like the best choice at the time and it's been a great bed for mattress for her. I'm debating whether to use that same mattress with Baby #2 or get a new one; I heard that it's best in terms of lowering SIDS risk to have a new mattress for each baby. We ordered ours online and probably paid only slightly more than a spring mattress from BRU.
Both children were conceived with assistance after a MFI DX of Azoospermia. DIUI.
I've got one of each and frankly - I don't notice much of a difference.
Foam is lighter but we use ultimate crib sheets so matress weight isn't much of an issue as we don't change the crib sheet often.
If I had it to do over again I would have bought what ever was cheapest.
I went all out on a top of the line foam for Jason and honestly I think Dylan's hand me down 5 yr old spring matress seems more comfortable.
Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
