My DS has gotten into the crawl position and often rocks in it, for about the past 4 mos. He still isnt actually crawling. He can get to another place but it is either by scooting or rolling. I am not overly concerned but curious if anyone else had a LO that "looked" as though they were about to crawl but it took them a good while. Believe me, I still enjoy the safety of my non-crawler.

Mine has been doing the rocking on her knees and hands for months and months. I kept thinking this was the beginning. I finally took her in for another pedi visit. Our new pediatrician ruled out any visible problems, and gave us a referral to a physical therapist, but just b/c I asked.
My LO has started army crawling in the last 3 weeks. She is really getting around. I think she will soon be crawling on her hands and knees soon. I don't plan on taking her in for PT unless she has made no more progress in a month.
Mine did the whole rocking, scooting, and rolling thing from 5 months through 9 months. She started crawling when she was 9 months, 1 week. A friend of mine's LO started crawling at 10 months and was walking by 13, I believe.

My oldest scooted, he never crawled or army crawled. One thing we never did was work on his upper body strength until now. So it might be something you work on with your LO..
Crawling is also suppose to help with brain development too.
