  • I am so happy to hear that things are ok.

I know what an emotional rolleroaster that can be. I went in at 6 weeks (I had just gotten my BFP, but started bleeding 2 days later) and the doc saw an empty gestational sac. I was devastated. He said to return the following week, and that at that point, he gave the pregnancy at best a 50-50 shot. My hcg was still doubling though he said not to have false hope because sometimes it takes the body a while to figure out that the embryo isn't viable. Anyway, I went in the next week, and we saw a tiny shadow with a heartbeat! Now she's a beautiful little girl who likes to feed the dog her food when she thinks I'm not looking.

    H&H 9 months to you!

  • Holy sh!t! That's awesome! I mean, it still sucks you had to go through that. I didn't read all the replies, so somebody may have already asked, but what did your OB say and are you staying with him/her?

The Ob got wind of me going for a second opinion before I went in for the ultrasound because my pcp called him. The Ob called me and said that he was not trying to sound all gloom and doom, but that he just had to go off of what he saw and that he didn't think this was going to turn into a baby, although he said he hoped that I would prove him wrong and that he would be the first to give me a hug and congratulate me if I did prove him wrong.  (I'm wondering if my pcp called him with some confusion because my betas looked great when the pcp took them) He gave me his cell phone number to call him as soon as I was done, so I called and told him what we had seen. He sounded shocked, but did say that he was happy for me and I believe did apologize. He scheduled me for an appointment with him on Tuesday for another ultrasound (so he can see?  Idk). I'm not sure yet what we're going to do. I mentioned in my other post that we were thinking of using a midwife and/or having a home birth this time anyway. We haven't figured out yet where we're going.

Good luck whatever you decide. I had a midwife last time and loved it (even though,or maybe especially because, I ended up with a c/s). The pp care was awesome, but so was the prenatal. Very informative, very empowering, low-intervention (like, I declined even GD testing and she supported my decision). And when I wound up with an emergency c/s she was the first person I knew that came into the operating room (I was already getting cut open), and she just put a reassuring hand on my shoulder, and then went to be with the baby right away (because at that point, she was no longer my care provider, but still the baby's care provider). And although we had never discussed c/s (b/c I figured we'd have time if it ever came up), she did everything I'd have wanted. And she took care of me and DD for 6 weeks after. Very encouraging about my recovery and BF"ing. I can go on and on, but I loved having a midwife.

I'm glad this got bumped up--I saw it over the weekend but couldn't comment from my phone.
