We've had Owl for 5 months and we STILL don't have any insurance for her. I know our county isn't at fault for this, it has to do with the case transfer from the other county BUT the case has been here for almost 2 months and the other county hasn't closed out her insurance there, allowing our county to provide her insurance here.
J asked the clinic manager that works with her mom to see if she could check if Owl has been issued insurance here (maybe we just haven't gotten the card yet?), she checked for us last month and said that the other county had cancelled her insurance so we figured she should have it here by now... Well, it looks like the other county reopened the insurance! WTH, is going on?!?!?! Owl needs insurance to get referrals, therapy, meds, etc and the other county can't get their butts in gear and make it happen. Our county is already suing the other county for problems with Owl's case, do they need to add this to their case too?
The assessment this morning couldn't be done because they don't have access to the kinds of testing Owl needs done, they will translate the tests once we get them done but they couldn't help us today. We now have to have Owl's primary Dr. refer her to neurology at the children's hospital, we are hoping they will understand our position with the insurance debacle and begin the testing anyway.
I am so frustrated.
Re: Insurance Rant
That's ridiculous. Do you know when the next court date is? If it's any time soon I'd be submitting a letter to the judge to hopefully prompt a court order for the county to fix this in a timely fashion.
Also, I'd start going up the chain of command in both counties with complaints. I work in this field (not foster care, but related) and I am always telling people "everybody has a supervisor."
