Trouble TTC

IUI#2 a bust

I posted a few days ago about formulating a plan for the next steps and luckily my RE had an appt yesterday morning so we had a chance to discuss.  He wanted to change my treatment plan since Clomid + IUI was not working.  He wants us to try IUI#3 with injectables this time and we would have been able to this cycle except I'm travelling for work for a week starting Sunday.

We did discuss IVF more seriously and his thoughts were if IUI#3 with injectables don't work, he would recommend IVF thereafter since I have coverage for it (based upon a lifetime max).  In order to not eat up the coverage, DH and I will try naturally this cycle and see what happens.  It will be nice to not have to worry about appts and meds this month, I have to say.  The plan is to enjoy Memorial Day weekend with some cold beers and my aunts lakehouse :)

I'll be perusing the board for girls that have done injectable IUI cycles to get a better idea what to expect.  Thanks again for everyone's advice the other day - going to stick around an offer support where I can!

  • Sorry about the BFN.  I did inject IUI's and it wasnt so bad.  You get used to the needles.

I would side eye any RE who recommends moving to IVF because you have insurance coverage for it. Especially when you haven't even been trying a whole year yet.

I should clarify, he wrote down 2 cycles but said we could try IVF after one, my choice.  We have been trying for over a year but took a break in between actively trying...my siggy is confusing, I should change that lol

  • Sorry to hear about your BFN. I'm currently doing IUI with injects. It's really not bad at all. Aside from being expensive if you're paying out of pocket, it's been just fine. You get pretty used to stabbing yourself haha! Good luck moving forward!
